We are discussing the priorities established by the Bible in so far as the issues of Christian beliefs are concerned. . Notwithstanding all claims to the contrary, it is pointed out that the Bible is the source for all claims made by mainstream Evangelicalism. . I think you have laid down these four points as being basic: . 1. Jesus is God. 2. Jesus died and rose again to be alive. 3. Persons must confess these two points in order to be saved from their sins. 4. Jesus stood for something called the Kingdom of God. . Do I understand correctly that these four points are the top four priorities a person must express in order to be accepted by God? . The question remains, "What is the Kingdom of God for which Jesus stood?" . -- posted by pink101 » pink101 - Looks Like Two Threads In response to Looks Like Two Threads posted by pink101:This thread is so closely related to the thread at this link that I think you should put your response in the other thread. : http://protestantism.suite101.com/discus... . What's the point of that story? Simple...To the man in the institution, he truly BELIEVED that he was rich. That was his "truth." But it was not an objective truth. It did not conform to reality. I'm interested in discovering and learning as many OBJECTIVE truths as I can. » pink101 - Bringing this back... In response to Bringing this back... posted by BrianTubbs:
-- posted by pink101 » pink101 - Some Time Ago .Some time ago, I was involved in a discussion with Catherine McDonald here in some of these threads. She is a practicing psychic living in Canada and has a degree in sociology if I'm not mistaken. You might remember her login was, Cat. . Anyway, in one of the discussions, I was bringing up some ideas about the institutions of American community and she corrected me with a statement that sociology has left structuralist theories behind in this new age. Almost as though structuralism has come to be passe'. . It probably doesn't mean a lot to people that structuralism was the highlight of mid twentieth century sociological thinking. . The word, postmodernism, has often been discussed by theorists as the period of post-structuralism. Accordingly, it is said that we are losing our sense of structure in that almost anything goes when it comes to our institutions. The family, for example, can be the people with whom you relate at work or church--it doesn't necessarily mean a mother, father, and their children any more. . I'm presently working on putting my thoughts about parenting down on paper and one of the main problems I see is the lack of structure for family definitions. . While I accept the fact that we are all postmodernists by definition, it doesn't mean that I think postmodernism is a good thing. Except in one sense of the word. What IS good about it is that it is forcing us to look at what we have in a critical way. Perhaps we can come up with a better way of carrying out our day to day experiences and the issues involved. . -- posted by pink101

Only if you define "postmodernist" as someone living in this era ...it doesn't mean that I think postmodernism is a good thing. GLAD TO HEAR YOU SAY THIS! Except in one sense of the word. What IS good about it is that it is forcing us to look at what we have in a critical way. I actually agree with this. Wow. We agree. » pink101 - Glad to hear it...
