- Knowledge and Fact
Without going into any detail, it is pretty obvious that comets are a good example of how knowledge has changed over the centuries
If we understand knowledge to be one's perspective holding or possession of information....then, yes. Our knowledge indeed changes. Doctors in the 15th century didn't know as much about the human body as they know today. BUT....the human body was still the same.

You hit the nail on the head.

Certainly the human body is the same; but, the perceptions are different and that is my point.
.
Truth is--so often--only a perception in the final analysis. And, our perception in the twenty-first century is much different that it was in the ffirst century--way different.

IF WE ARE IN AGREEMENT on my previous post, then what this boils down to is NOT an issue of whether Truth exists, but rather our capacity to understand Truth. It seems that what you are calling into question is the ability of the human race to KNOW Truth.

That may be so. But, it is more than that. I think we can say that our criteria for defining truth can and does change.
.
So, it is much more about how truth claims are legitimatized. What authority shall we accede to in any particular case? That's a big question postmodernists face.

I think that we, in these post-modern times, are OVER-complicating the issue. There are some things that are clearly true.

And some things that fluctuate.

- Bringing this back on point...
If Jesus claimed to be divine, that's not something that fluctuates. Either he did or he didn't. If Jesus was crucified, that is a fact that does not fluctuate over time. Either he was crucified or he was not. If Jesus rose from the dead, THAT is not something that fluctuates. Either he did or he didn't. And so forth.

- Romans 10
In his letter to the church at Rome, Paul lays this out clearly in Romans 10:9...
"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus..."
The "mouth" refers of course to your communicative will - your decision to articulate what you have committed to. And the fact that you are told to confess the Lord Jesus means that you have acknowledged three things:
1. Jesus is real
2. Jesus is Lord
3. You are confessing or declaring belief in Jesus
"...and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead..."
That means you are acknowledging that Jesus was crucified, that he died, and that he rose from the dead - that you not only believe it, but you're staking your faith on it!
"...you shall be saved."
Seems pretty clear to me.
