Ha ha! Finally, one snow storm missed me!! We only got a glazing of ice, a little rain, and hefty wind. But, Chicago and northern burbs got socked. It's still very cold here though. Not a tulip or daffodil for Easter.

The snow was all gone except for piles here and there in the parking lots. We woke up to nearly a foot of snow on the ground.

My feathered friends, the finches and their cousins, make great use of our bird feeding stations.

It won't last long, I'm sure.

The old snow piles had turned almost black from the dirt; so, this new white blanket was quite welcome.

It's an ugly time of year, IMO... brown, grey, and dirty. Trash and debris which was buried under snow along the roadsides. Mud everywhere from an earlier pre-spring flood. Tree branches strewn all over the ground.

I bundled up and walked my place yesterday - picking up paper, bottles, and cans that had blown around and settled. Some of my prairie plants are peeking through - new green shoots, and trees are starting to bud. I can't wait to see color again.

Oh, and that black snow.... sure, most of it is dirt. But if the dirt jumps, it's snow fleas (springtails). Who'd a thunk it.

You'd be blown away with the professional photos folks have taken of my eagle. She's so expressive. Many have won photography awards, and have shared their 'seconds' with me. Some have come back every year for ten years to photograph her aging and plumage changes after she molts. And some have superimposed other images behind her. I've got several albums.... more pics than I have of my own kids!
