.
While Baptist women, generally, give strong voice to the importance of men taking the leading role in all social groups starting with the family, they are quite vocal when it comes to men not performing according to biblical standards.
.
This~~almost~~seems to be a contradiction. In actuality, they are just doing what they can to keep men's focus on the goal.
.
As I recall, that is.
.
. happy
.
Special groups~~circles~~are formed within the church structure in which women are allowed to vent their built up sense of dissatisfaction for the "men folk".
.
I don't think the Catholic Church has anything like what takes place in Baptist churches. But, I have seen some Hollywood productions in which RC Nuns get upset with the way things are being run. Wasn't it why Joan of Arc was burned alive at the stake--for being an upity woman?

This is one of those times where Pink demonstrates his grasp of Baptist culture. Migisi, you have commented on the apparent chauvinism in certain Baptist resolutions and/or doctrines concerning women in pastoral ministry and/or in the home. I'm here to tell you, as a lifelong Baptist, that the men can pass all the resolutions they want, the REALITY is that - in most Baptist circles (in the church AND home), the women run the show. happy

.
Here is where we are caught up in one of the complaints of postmodernism.
.
Feminists talk of "words and things" claiming that we need ways of communicating our ideas and experiences.
.
That's right.
.
Postmodernist writers speak of language games. Games in the sense that each one has its own vocabulary. Football terminology doesn't work well in baseball or chess; but, each one is a game with its own rules and words. The same is true in society when some of us are talking the language game of our own take on reality.
.
The watchword of postmodernism is incommensurable.
.
You can be as upset with postmodernism as you like; but, we--each one of us--are all postmoderns. Like it or lump it.
.

.
It is a time in which social justice is on the block.

Exactly. We are all a part of postmodernism. Can't be avoided unless you've separated yourself from the world and live as a hermit, anachronist, or a cloistered monk/nun.

[The affects of Postmodernism] can't be avoided unless you've separated yourself from the world and live as a hermit, [anarchist], or a cloistered monk/nun.
.
That is precisely the situation. Those people who are living by some grand narrative must force themselves into enclaves in which they live as though their take on reality is the absolute as they feed on pie in the sky. Some of the ones I know are the best people in the world; but, they delude themselves. They cannot handle the truth for it destroys their entire way of life.
.
The watch word of postmodernism is incommensurable.
.
By the way, you'd think by now, that Suite101 would have figured out that postmodernism is a real word that needs to be included in its data base so that it doesn't get a red under line when entered

It's been eons since I've heard that word. Had to look it up (my memory's like a steel sieve - hee hee).

...absence of a common standard of measurement... two values are incommensurable if and only if, when compared, neither is better than the other nor are they equally valuable.

Postmodernism accounts for the return of Paganism as a religious force. Instead of one God, there are many gods. The age old stories are giving way to different stories.

Old ideas are resurrected as 'new' - and skip from one generation to the next. I'm looking at 'new' fashions for spring -- which closely resemble what I wore in the 60s. There's nothing new under the sun, including our gods.

As I see it.
