» pink101 - BUT

.
But, and it's a big one!
.
Neither does Feminism seem to be an entirely stand alone theory or philosophy of life.
.
The idea that values of so long establishment can be brought to question is seen as utterly audacioujs by conservitves the world over. So it is no surprise that Feminism gets any criticism at all. Instead, it is to be expected.
.
I think ~ first ~ we should come to some understanding of how it is that "things" (that's what Feminism calls them) have come to be what they are. Why do we value material "things" so highly? It does seem like a contradiction to what Conservatives claim they stand for.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Criticizing Feminism

In response to Criticizing Feminism posted by pink101:

If you are so bent on criticizing feminism....

Hold on. This is what I don't want to get dragged into. I'm aware that you see my comments (and, if I can speak for her, Migisi too - if she's observing this) as critical of feminism. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

We still have not defined feminism. What I'm against is overhauling our social order and language - which some self-described "feminist" scholars have advocated. THAT is what I am criticizing. And I've tried to narrow my criticism to that. I am not staking out a position against feminism in general, particularly since we have yet to define the scope and meaning of that term.

I enjoyed reading the article you linked. As a female ex-police officer who dealt with assault victims, I share her dream. If weapon-totin' is what it'll take for women to be safe, I'm all for it.
.
I spent all day Saturday with a remarkable and large group of weapon-totin' women hunters. It was my annual outdoor women's event. What a great day!
.
Wanna know about feminism? Ask me some questions. I'm not a feminist author or 'scholar', but I'll try to answer.

I looked up the word, but don't know how to apply it to feminism. Could you expand on it more?

In Feminism, Bifurcation is approached from the standpoint that the preponderance of women come at life in such a way that the "embodiment of their personal experience" does not square with the way "things" are.

Hmm. The way things are IS the embodiment of my personal experience. Maybe I'm not the one to ask?

Well, let's take a look at the way things are, okay?

Have you ever noticed something called the glass ceiling? Did you ever hear that men get paid more than women for doing the same job? And, that might be just the most obvious. Have you seen the two Power Points I linked? Speaking of the way things are, that is.
