Patriotism can be based on any individual's understanding of what it means to be patriotic. As a term, patriotism, doesn't apply to a particular situation like 32 degrees fahrenheit applies to water. It means different things to different people.
.
I cannot impose my idea of what it means to be a patriot on you and you cannot do it to me.

» Migisi - Patriotism

.
"Do not... regard the critics as questionable patriots. What were Washington and Jefferson and Adams but profound critics of the colonial status quo?"
- Adlai Stevenson
.
"Our purpose now is to reclaim democracy itself. We are here to affirm that when Americans stand up and speak their minds and say America can do better, that is not a challenge to patriotism; it is the heart and soul of patriotism."
- Senator John Kerry
.
"Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and excusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may."
- Mark Twain
.
"Patriotism means unqualified and unwavering love for the nation, which implies not uncritical eagerness to serve, not support for unjust claims, but frank assessment of its vices and sins, and penitence for them."
- Alexander Solzhenitsyn
.
"It is lamentable, that to be a good patriot one must become the enemy of the rest of mankind."
- Voltaire, Philosophical Dictionary
.
"He loves his country best who strives to make it best."
- Robert G. Ingersoll
.
"The time is fast approaching when to call a man a patriot will be the deepest insult you can offer him. Patriotism now means advocating plunder in the interest of the privileged classes of the particular State system into which we have happened to be born."
- Tolstoy

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Thanks

Thanks, Migisi and Pink.

I didn't need to do a thesis for the Master's in Theological Studies, which is a 36-hr program. However, I plan to continue on for the Master of Divinity. That's another 2-3 years of work.
