His name's known here now...crikey...even on Wikipedia. I have not cited that link below. It's a truth-in-waiting event and as usual all the little snippets now available may or may not be...wrong.

Rest unassured...the underlying events aren't likely to be effectively tackled for preventative measures. What were the triggers for early intervention and who missed them or more importantly...who was expected to act on them.
How are sociology professors ever expected to be a referring agent for treatment of students...or for their exclusion from uni. What would be their weapon of choice if firearms were banned.
Who relaxes when their children decide to go to a US uni nowadays? I can't imagine what you're all going through.

He had a history of mental illness. News said this morning that his parents had admitted him a while back to a mental health facility after he became 'unruly' in their home. His girlfriend had dumped him at the end of 2007. A trigger for the trigger?

"But he stopped taking his meds and had been acting "somewhat erratic" in the last two weeks, police said. Sources said the medications may have been anti-depressants.
.
"Kazmierczak left the Champaign apartment he still shared with his ex-girlfriend, and Wednesday night, the 27-year-old stayed at a DeKalb motel, a source said."
.
This guy drove 170 miles (Champaign to DeKalb) -- nearly 3 hours -- the day before Valentine's Day, to stay at a motel??

An interesting article on the controversial new law requiring disclosure of mental health patients to the state for gun background checks. It's a privacy vs public safety debate:
Gun laws stronger, but not foolproof
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local...
"Congress passed a law in December that forces states to report mental health information that is placed in a background-check system used nationally for gun permits.
.
"Illinois legislators went further, crafting an ambitious attempt to keep guns out of the hands of people with mental illness.
.
"When the new state law takes effect June 1, health professionals in Illinois will be required to report to the Department of Human Services any patient "whose mental condition is of such a nature that it is manifested by violent, suicidal, threatening or assaultive behavior" - the kind of reporting that previously took place only when a person was admitted to a mental health institution."

- Another tragedy
Our society is certainly turning more and more violent.
Indeed
What can we expect with this idiot in the White House and his cowboy administration of his brand of Texas justice?
A ridiculous correlation, considering that we've had "cowboy" type Presidents in the past (Teddy Roosevelt anyone?) and yet did NOT have this kind of rampant violence in our schools.
Does anyone else see this as being similar to the suicide bombings in the Middle East?
There are similarities and dissimilarities.

- Other things at work...
But, it certainly seems to me that something else is also going on here.
Yup....breakdown of the family, rejection of traditional morality by our society at-large, and a devaluing of human life.

Many mixed messages, Brian.

On the one hand, we have a president who is so hyped up on the Wonderful Story of Life and on the other, we have a president who is so ready to kill and maim the innocent in pre-emptive wars based on lies.
