My brother and sister called me yesterday - assuring me that their girls were safe. They are students at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb IL. Both were locked in their dorm rooms until the shooter was found dead.

Today: 6 students dead, 17 injured (4 critically), and 1 suicide.

I'm willing to bet my farm that this shooter -- a model over-achiever majoring in sociology and religion - who had recieved the Dean's award for his campus social work - was yet another casualty of mental illness and the psyche drug industry (like all the other school shooters have been). I presented info about this national prescription drug problem less than a year ago -- after Virginia Tech.

When the shooter attended NIU, his sociology professor had requested a psyche evaluation for him, citing upsetting content in the young man's written work. Unknown if he actually had that evaluation before he transferred to U of I in Champaign (central IL).

What bothers me... He returns to NIU to randomly kill students there - rather than shoot students at U of I where he attends? There's more to this story, which I'm sure will be revealed in time.

Yes, I agree...a violent society. But ~more~ violent? I think it seems so because we hear about it more.

I'd like to know what his major specialty was in sociology and who he read. And, I'd like to read his papers. I hope these are the kinds of things that will be released to public scrutiny.

Doubt that kind of stuff will be publicized - unless HE already posted it on the web somewhere. Heck, his name hasn't even been revealed yet!

I suspect he thought he was issuing some kind of a wake-up call or other.
.
I'm sure the answers are in his papers and text books where he probably used a highlighter and made notes in the margins.
