» GodChsr - SOS on Discrimination.?.?.?

I need some help from you guys.

I assume you people still remember me... =)

Here's the situation... I work as an accountant for a big company now (Not broke like I used to be hehehe) but here's the deal... we're going through a hiring frenzy to increase manufacturing jobs... I decided to look through some applications to see who were some of the potential candidates... Well there's a "Yes" box and a "No" box (Better known as the trash can). In the preliminary screening they simply give you an app and a test. During the test they eye ball you to see if you are dressed nice basically. (Just FYI)

I decided for some reason to look through the "No" trash recipticle to see what rejects these people must have been to NOT get a job in manufacturing. None of them suprised me (low scores etc...) until I came across one that had a sticky note attached that read in BOLD letters "DEAF". I flipped throuhg it hoping to God that the person had failed their test and I could sleep well... I came to find out that 'we' (not me) did not even score the test but literally dicarded it without even going through a normal screening process.

HOLY S***!!!!! That REALLY pisses me off for more than one reason BUT let me finish by saying that I decided to score his test... Not only did he pass but his test actually would have qualified him for a promotion as well. The average 'score' fpr a manufacturing job would be in the low teens (10-19), A warehouse job in the 20's and an office job over 30 etc... He scored a 24! So he's not stupid at all... quite the contrary he's intelligent.

Now if you're a pessimist (like me sometimes) then might go ahead and try to discredit the guy by saying he had a bad work history... not this guy. He also had a perfect work history from 1994 till currently employed ALL BY THE SAME EMPLOYEE!?!?!?!?!?

Let me make it clear (if it's not already) this is what would be considered a model new employee within our company.

I am bothered by this... and reguardless of the legal implications (if any???) I think I am not pleased that this would be done to someone who does NOT need "Excessive assistance to do the job" (ie: someone mentally handicap shouldn't be an accountant)

Please help me!!!! (And no I won't yet tell you who I work for.. ahemmm

I do remember you. Good to see you again. happy

This IS illegal, and if the applicant was aware of what happened, he could sue for discrimination and probably be awarded big bucks.

If you found one example its highly likely there are other applicants who have been illegally discriminated against.

I'd report it--but that's easy for me to say 'cause I'm not in your shoes, and its not my job (but yours) which could be on the line for reporting it.

peace and love,
Paper Turtle

.
It's a question of ethics.
.
Yours, as well as the person who put the "DEAF", sticker on the application.
.
What do YOU think of it? That's the question.
.
happy
.
It looks like you are beginning to question your own employment. Be careful.
