Brian asked:

So...fellow Christians...what do YOU think? What XBOX 360 games are acceptable for a Christian family? Any recommendations?

For a Christian family I would recommend 360 titles such as Rock Band, Guitar Hero (although the themes might be an issue), Need for Speed series, Project Gotham, Eternal Sonata, Shrek the Third, Loony Toons and Lego Star Wars to name but a few. This site has also helped me find great games: http://www.gamerevolution.com/

Also, if you subscribe to XBOX LIVE you can dowload game demos for free, so you can check out the game before you buy it. If you get a Gold Subscription you can play people online (such as myself, lol). When you start up a LIVE account you can choose which venue you want to play against people in. I recommend the Family venue as it is a very safe option for children.

Those who say video games are of Satan would hate my church. We recently had a games night (just a fun night for the young people) which involved both board and video games. There were also about 10 XBOX 360's there and Halo 3 was the game of the night.

If you want a really, really good game I recommend The Elder Scrolls 3: Oblivion. It was game of the year for 2006 and it's not hard to see why. You choose your own character, decide what race (10 to chose from) and sex s/he is, customize their appearance (it's impossible to make the same character twice), choose their major skills and then go out into a huge world and find some quests. Pretty much you could it for ever. Your character can be a knight, a wizard, a thief, a warrior, the possibilities are endless.:)

.
I often wish that I had the time to spend learning more about the world of games that has come to be so popular in society today.
.
In fact, I have been motivated to get some books on games to help me come to a place where I understand the mindset of people who make it important in their journey to be game players.
.
I do know one thing. Playing games creates a complexity of neural pathways in the brain. And, these pathways, I think, are turned into avenues the actors use in all their personal relationships. Life, itself, gets to be a game. Games set up conflict and conflict wants winners and losers. It does not seem to be a healthy situation.
.
I have a suspicion that games are having a negative influence on our society in regards to the way we get along with each other.
.
It would be good to have a comprehensive discussion with a highly experieenced someone who would be objective on the subject.
