"Left Behind: Eternal Forces" is an insult to video games. Poor graphics, poor sound, no lifespan and it's far too preachy (video games are supposed to be fun, not preachy).

Flight Sims are used to train some people in the Aussie Air Force, or so I've been told.

Sick bastard.

I suppose the anti-gaming front will be using this as "evidence" that video games are evil.

Some people see evil in everything.
.
The problem I THINK might be manifest in games is that they create a sanctuary for persons who already have a tendency to have problems relating with others--a place to go where they can sequester themselves away from intimacies with other REAL people.
.
What's the word games use for those pointey nosed people with the big eyes?
.
I have experience with a person who has spent time playing games since they were a child playing Donkey Kong and now playing more complicated games, writing about games, and coming up with concepts for games. This person has a definite problem relating with people who don't play games. Do you know people like that?

Avatar, right?
.
Quick definitions (avatar)

# noun: the manifestation of a Hindu deity (especially Vishnu) in human or superhuman or animal form (Example: "The Buddha is considered an avatar of the god Vishnu")
# noun: a new personification of a familiar idea (Example: "The very avatar of cunning")

It's clear from the story that this baby was in danger well before the xbox incident - warranting social service intervention.

Quoting the article: "An autopsy showed that Alayiah had suffered a broken arm about two weeks before she died - "

Too bad for Daddy. He won't get to finish his game...

These questions in the article raise some important issues:
.
"Such important decisions regarding a prison's security make you wonder about the consoles' status during major wars. Are soldiers allowed to use gaming devices? Can an enemy base be exposed by the heat signature of those consoles? We've heard about PS3 chips being used to produce rockets, but the harmful potential of these consoles seems to increase as they evolve. Will the PS4 and Xbox 4 trigger the Apocalypse?"

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Sequestering

In response to Evil In Everything posted by pink101:

True, Pink, but I don't think it's fair to cast a wide indictment of the video game industry, simply because it provides this sequestering for some.

First, if it weren't for the video game industry, maladjusted people would look for OTHER avenues and arenas to sequester themselves - and have (over the years).

Second, there are still CASUAL gamers (like myself), who simply look at computer and/or video gaming as an occasional means of recreation and relaxation. Like watching TV. It's not right to penalize us, because of the excesses and warped personalities of others.

Everything in moderation! But many kids don't know the meaning of that word.
.
Back in the day, I had to take the Atari (yeah, that OLD!) and puter games away from my kids, and lock them up in a basement cabinet. Too much fighting and bickering between them. No chores or homework getting done. Missed family meals. And you might recall I had to resort to shutting off the electricity to my youngest son's bedroom to stop the gaming on family holidays. His online router has since been moved to my office now. It's easy to just 'unplug' him if I get any back talk about social, family, and school obligations not being met. (My house... my rules!)
.
Gaming ~can~ become a problem if left unsupervised and uncontrolled. Games ARE fun for recreation and relaxation. I have some hand-held ones myself. But when they become an addiction, intervention is necessary.

On the contrary, Brian.
.
However, my intention is not to penalize anyone; but, to draw attention to this kind of gaming and to seek objective discussion.
.
If any participant is going to take a defensive position as though they're being attacked then, they won't be a very good person with whom to seek out any objectivity, will they?
.
I was hoping we could flesh this thing out with very little defense..
.
What do you know about the people who develop the games?
.
..
