Thought I might start a discussion on this upcoming, and controversial, documentry film.
Even though I'm a Creationist, you won't see me promoting the crap out of this film as Stein and many others mislead many on the people interviewed for the side of the Evolutionary theory (or Darwinism as Stein calls it), including PZ Myers, Eugenie Scott and religious leader Richard Dawkins. Also one of the producers, Mark Mathis, called Myers, Dawkins and Scott a "bunch of hypocrites", which I believe is harmful to the film.
However, it is good to see that this will expose the persecution that many scientists today face for questioning and/or not conforming to the Evolutionary theory (I always thought that a part of being a scientist is to ask questions). Ironically, the same people doing the persecuting are the same ones who often bring up the persecution Columbus and Galileo faced from the church. I had to laughed at Dawkins's claim, whist watching the trailer, that those who have accepted the Creation theory are not scientists, thus proving that even he has no idea what a scientist is (not the first time he was wrong, I've seen him claim that Hitler was both a Christian and a Creationist).
One thing that got me thinking was a question that is brought up in the trailer (and, of coarse, the film): What are they afraid of? If these people are so absolutely sure that they are right, why are they so worried about people putting foward their ideas on Intelligent Design? Hell, even Dawkins said, during his deabte with John Lennox, that he and his colleages were worried about the Creation theory being introduced in public schools.
Anywho, since I haven't seen the fim yet I can't give my full views on it as of yet but when I finally see it I will. It'll be interesting to both see such a film and see the response from the anti-Creationist/Radical Evolutionists (I expect next year they'll retaliate and we'll see an anti-Creation doco film making wild claims such as the clichéd and proposturous link between Creationism and Nazism/terrorism/fascism/etc). Also, it'll be interesting to see the response from the radical Creationist. Even if the film is aweful and is about as accurate as Barbara Walker's claims about the Ferris Wheel, I expect they'll be stating it's the greatest film of all time and AiG even offering to pay for your tickets.
