» EvilChihuahua - What a shame!

In response to What a shame! posted by redback:

So in the last few years we've lost Steve Irwin, Peter Brock and now Heath.

I was pretty shocked about all 3 of them. Steve spent his entire life helping animals and was killed by one. Then only 3 or 4 days later Brock was killed in a car accident whilst racing. Heath was still playing the most iconic supervillian ever when he went. Though he wasn't playing the character at the exact time he died, he still had a few scenes left I hear. Pretty much Steve, Brock and Heath passed away doing what they lived for.

It's pretty sad that people feel the need to attack only days after their deaths. We had Germane Greer and those idiots at PETA accusing him of animal cruelty. Pardon my French but anyone who thinks Steve abused animals can pull their head out of their arse. Then there were the sunscreen jokes made about him the next day then those boofheads started again on how he apparently endangered his son that time. Then they started on Brock. Remember all those accusations? Now we have the boofheads at Westboro Baptist starting on Heath. Talk about tasteless.

Sometimes I doubt things Christians say.

Sometimes they complain about an R-rated movie here that only ensures more people see it. Sometimes they open their mouths and leave themselves open to criticism rather than what they intended:

Members of Westboro Baptist Church, known for picketing the funeral of US soldiers who died in Iraq - arguing homosexuals are the cause of the war, said Ledger is now in hell, OK! magazine reports.

"Heath Ledger thought it was great fun defying God Almighty and His plain word; to wit; God Hates Fags! & Fag-Enablers!" the church said in a statement.
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?...

Poor old Heath. Our version of James Dean. Screaming adoring fans. Either way, he's a role model way beyond his control.

Gary Busey is a Christian and has played many a murderer. Isn't murder just as bad as homosexuality? Many Christian actors have played sinners. Why hasn't Westboro brought that up yet?

You're asking me? If I may speak on their behalf happy happy I'd have to say: "it's because we're illiterate, rabid slaves to hypocrisy."

I read Gary Busey is apparently a Promise Keeper, yet another shade of Christianity.

Seriously, I don't know how sophisticated Westboro is. Their language suggests a fair slab of bigotry exists but that alone does not make them unique.

I don't think actors can isolate or insulate themselves from the products they sell. Neither can the producer...OR the viewing public...from the movies they are prepared to pay to see ie the created market. But I don't walk the walk of the ultra-gullible.

But a movie that portrays homosexuality or murder or whatever passes for 'sin' these days can usually be viewed at a number of levels. A 'healthy' Christian is surely able to ponder the context, comparisons and contrasts (3C) either displayed within the movie or by applying their own moral compass.

I remember being next door neighbours for some time with the acting fraternity and related fields eg continuity. The outcome was I now watch movies with one eye on the lazy, deliberate and unforeseen errors in continuity etc. You know...Columbus with a watch half concealed, the car behind Caesar's troops etc. The developing actor, the dumb portrayal of law or medical issues etc. I don't rush out to buy a coke simply because it's on a billboard in a car chase scene.

And I for one would not have bothered with reading Westboro's opinion but for your reference to it.

.
Busey claimed he'd had a religious 'experience' during his 4-week coma after his motorcycle accident in 1988. He said, ".... I entered and returned from a spiritual realm, and that experience has been the foundation of my faith ever since." http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/spot...
.
But apparently his religious experience didn't have much impact on his risky lifestyle. Howard Stern labeled him "Gary Abusey", because of his alcoholism and cocaine addiction. Around 1995, some 7ish years after his return from the 'spiritual realm', Gary finally entered rehab and got clean and sober. (Good for him!)
.
And I for one would not have bothered with reading Westboro's opinion but for your reference to it.
.
Nor would I have.

The way I see it, Westboro are the sinners.:)

I think what pissed me off most was the fact that they attacked a fellow Aussie.

You assume that Phelps and his welps even knew he was an Aussie. Doubt it matters to them, since their hatred knows no borders or boundaries.

That hatred will lead to their downfall.

They cannot call themselves Christians and be so hateful. Remember what Jesus said about hate?

.
Sure I remember. Love your neighbor as yourself, love and do good to your enemies, etc..
.
But he also said this:
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters-yes, even his own life-he cannot be my disciple." (Lk 14:26)
.
Phelps hates everybody. Do you think he uses the passage above to justify that hate?
