- Modem?
Ya think?
This is one of those situations where I don't know how to respond to you. Obviously, I disagree.....strongly. But to say that I disagree invites your accusation that I'm not open to intellectual exploration and/or that I'm quenching the spirit of open-ended thinking and discussion and/or yadda, yadda, yadda.
I will simply say that yours is an "interesting" view, but it is - in no way - consistent with the early church's understanding of the Gospel of John (from which the quote you speak of is derived).

In response to Better sources posted by Migisi:Brian, has anyone said that Protestants do not believe that? Think of this as a way to share information, not to preach. This may mean that you have to change your style.

- What are you talking about, Shawn?
If you're referring to my "Jesus is God" statement, I was answering a question from Phil.
Please tell me how I'm supposed to answer questions. It's obvious that a direct, succinct answer will be seen as preaching (at least by you).
And then you criticize my 'style' - whatever that means. Obviously, you are not dropping your preconceived notions (as you said you would).

People didn't believe in the deity of Jesus when you were a boy, Pink?

...has anyone said that Protestants do not believe that?
Assuming you mean "Jesus is God," I would have to say that there ARE some professing "Christians" in official "Protestant" circles today that deny the deity of Jesus Christ. If we define Christian according to its HISTORIC and ORIGINAL meaning, then anyone who denies Jesus' deity is ispo facto NOT a Christian. If one takes a broader, more open-ended definition, then people can pretty much call themselves whatever they want.
