In response to Modem? posted by pink101:

Ya think?

This is one of those situations where I don't know how to respond to you. Obviously, I disagree.....strongly. But to say that I disagree invites your accusation that I'm not open to intellectual exploration and/or that I'm quenching the spirit of open-ended thinking and discussion and/or yadda, yadda, yadda.

I will simply say that yours is an "interesting" view, but it is - in no way - consistent with the early church's understanding of the Gospel of John (from which the quote you speak of is derived).

» Shawn Landis - One Question For Brian

In response to One Question For Brian posted by pink101:
Brian, I never said they were. I have use the phrase Mainstream Christianity to refer to Protestant and Catholicism. Nor, if this is what you are worried about, did I ever suggest putting either the Mormonism and Jehovah's Witnesses category under Protestantism. If the changes I want get made, the two just get move to Christianity as their own category. You cannot group them with each other, because their theologies aren't the same.

I didn't say FAIR was inaccurate, I am accusing FAIR of obfuscation and trying to confuse the point. It's a site run by Mormon apologists, I think lds.org is a better source. For all the issues, although it's negative, go to lds-mormon.com.

Brian, has anyone said that Protestants do not believe that? Think of this as a way to share information, not to preach. This may mean that you have to change your style.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - What are you talking about, Shawn?

In response to Better sources posted by landiss77:

If you're referring to my "Jesus is God" statement, I was answering a question from Phil.

Please tell me how I'm supposed to answer questions. It's obvious that a direct, succinct answer will be seen as preaching (at least by you).

And then you criticize my 'style' - whatever that means. Obviously, you are not dropping your preconceived notions (as you said you would).

In response to Better sources posted by landiss77:

...has anyone said that Protestants do not believe that?

Assuming you mean "Jesus is God," I would have to say that there ARE some professing "Christians" in official "Protestant" circles today that deny the deity of Jesus Christ. If we define Christian according to its HISTORIC and ORIGINAL meaning, then anyone who denies Jesus' deity is ispo facto NOT a Christian. If one takes a broader, more open-ended definition, then people can pretty much call themselves whatever they want.
