I'm having a hard enough time remembering what I have forgotten without adding to the mix. I thought I'd fired off many "gems' but then, maybe I don't know what you don't know? ABC

"But, evil, and the game of getting away with it, is so much fun." (wink and happy )

Given the complex way of viewing things here, maybe 'evil' and 'sin' were created...so that 'fun' could be discovered as if by accident. Ignorance of the law may be no excuse but ignorance of the punchline IS evil. What punchline awaits? happy

In response to Evil posted by pink101:

.
The first ideas were drawn in the dirt.
.
And smudged on cave walls, etched on rocks, and carved of stone.
.
Unfortunately for the first humans, nowhere in the legend does God draw the idea of evil or its consequence of death in the dirt. Nor did he express or explain either idea through language. Pondering... if they'd been endowed with this knowledge upon their creation, would they have partaken of the fruit anyway? We humans do engage in risky behavior at times. Were we designed to push the envelope, so to speak?

I have a problem with the way you ~ sometimes ~ present your ideas.

It is MY problem and not yours. happy
.
With one hand you deny the existence of God and with the other you fault or make Him responsible for "things" with which we live. For example, here in this post you wrote, We humans do engage in risky behavior at times. Were we designed to push the envelope, so to speak?
.
Designed? By whom, Migisi?
.
Do you see my confusion?

I can see how you'd be confused.
.
I challenge the Hebrew God's existence 'as written'. As I see it, their own sacred text makes their God responsible for everything. I scrutinize and challenge their legends/myths - just as I would the Egyptian, Native American, Hindu, etc. legends/myths - IF they insisted that every word was the absolute truth and I'd be condemned to eternal tooth gnashing if I didn't believe it.
.
But that doesn't mean that I deny the existence of a spiritual ONE.
.
Clear as mud, or does this makes some sense?

It makes sense when we know the other is speaking in either the indicative or the subjunctive moods.
.
I guess it's one of the problems with this kind of communication where none of us really knows the other; but, we interact as though we do.

Where did I read that confusion is the first stage of learning?

I've heard it said two ways: the 'first' stage, and as a 'necessary' stage of learning. Both work for me.

If I had to define my belief ~today~ with one word, I'd use 'deist'. What word would you use today to define yours?

That's a tough question. In the Sole Scriptura thread, we are trying to come up with a definition of faith that we can use as an operative meaning. I'm thinking it is, to make believe. So, to ask what I believe puts me in a difficult spot. Yet, I am able to also ask myself that question and I do, quite often.
.
I believe in the next moment and that is where I put my faith. So, I make believe that reality is unfolding itself to me on a moment by moment basis.
.
That reminds me of a song we used to sing in church when I was growing up. Here are the words:
.
Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine;
Living with Jesus, a new life divine;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
.
Refrain
.
Moment by moment I'm kept in His love;
Moment by moment I've life from above;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
.
Never a trial that He is not there,
Never a burden that He doth not bear,
Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
Moment by moment, I'm under His care.
.
Refrain
.
Never a heartache, and never a groan,
Never a teardrop and never a moan;
Never a danger but there on the throne,
Moment by moment He thinks of His own.
.
Refrain
.
Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
Jesus my Savior, abides with me still.
.
happy
.
Now, is that in the indicative or subjunctive mood?
.
heh heh heh
.
What I read was that as long as you're not confused, everything is what you already know to be true--maybe just a different way of looking at it.
.
But, when you get confused? That's because you're beginning to digest something new that you never had before. So, then is when you are beginning to learn.
.
I'm confused a lot; so, I guess I'm, at least, at the door of learning.
.
BTW, the melody to that song is beautiful..
And, speaking of beautiful music, I just got a new CD with Perry Como's greatest hits on it.
