» paper_turtle - New Year's Day

In response to New Year's Day posted by pink101:

The family tradition here comes from my mother, who grew up in Georgia. On New Years Day we eat Hoppin' John, which is black-eyed peas with onions, peppers, and bits of ham or bacon. On the side, hot cornbread. The black-eyed peas are supposed to bring properity in the new year.

peace and love,
Paper Turtle
