Rather than start a new topic, I thought I'd extend the spirit of the new year to this one to you all...or is that y'all? It seems to me there is some similarity in 'hope springs eternal' from these 2 seasons.

My hope is that I need no further reminders of others being worse off than me. My single parent mate (a symbolic international example) took his 13 year old daughter away for a week long break a cuppla days ago...only to find she had arranged per internet to be picked up from the holiday destination on day 1 and spirited away to the...Sunshine Coast.

20 years ago, I remember being in a highrise motel room... with family...past midnight...enjoying spectactular views over Sydney Harbour & Austrralia's Bicentenary Celebrations and fireworks. Today, spirit willing, body weak...I'll hopefully be asleep well before midnight.

But to all of you of greater stamina for the midnight to dawn...all the very best.
