'Bah humbug' is an OK greeting to me from those who don't toe any "approved" line including spending requisite $ in presents.
.
There's a whole lot of stressed-out bah humbuggers filing through the store check out lines at Chrismas time. People fretting whether X will like their gift, or if they've spent 'enough' on XX, or if they should buy more for XXX so his gift pile is equal to XXXX's. It's all so silly. Cha-ching isn't the sum or proof of love.
.
The cards I send for less response usually have Happy Xmas or Merry Xmas where X marks many a spot doesn't it?
.
Yes, that covers all the bases.
I don't send any cards at all. That solves the greeting 'problem' for me.
.
...where my rellies want to see me at least for one day out of 365.
.
That brings up another holiday 'problem'... relatives holding Xmas parties on the same day and expecting me to attend each. I'd have to split myself into 7 Migisis. To be fair, I attend a different party each year. This year, it's my younger sister's turn to be blessed with my presence. (wink in sarcasm)

- A key conversation
I've wished people "Happy Holidays" and will continue to do so. I have an uncle, for example, that's Jewish. I don't rub it in his face with "Merry CHRIST-mas!" But, this same uncle had no problem opening up his home to family and friends (in earlier years - when he was younger and healthier) for Christmas parties. He and his wife don't get upset when people send them Christmas cards.
But what really brought this home for me was a conversation that took place at one of my previous jobs. At our "holiday" party, I was talking to one of our managers. Another guy walked up, and Jim (the guy I was talking with) good-naturedly said: "Merry Christmas."
The other guy froze, stared at him, and protested "Is it?"
There was this long, awkward pause, and finally Jim somewhat sheepishly said: "Happy Holidays?"
"There you go," said the man, and walked off.
I've not forgotten that conversation, and probably never will. And, frankly, the result of that conversation was to make me even MORE determined to say "Merry Christmas" to people.

"I'd have to split myself into 7 Migisis." is the task I'm handing to the others this year...and staying home. Visiting a sister for Christmas Day alone involves 3 nights away.
In any event, I'm wishing you guys all the best all year round, regardless of the season or its name.

An overnight stay to get a lift early the next day, then an overnight stay on Xmas Day...but not very far at all IF I had private transport and/or was allowed to leave after the obligatory get together AND before they disappear to do the laundry, walk the dog, watch the grass grow etc etc. My nephews want their "rich" uncle to stay until divested of the goodies ie cash is the only currency then they retreat to their rooms and computers etc.
Crikey...am I hiding my "bah humbug" mood well?
ABC
The animals in Tarongah Zoo opened their presents early:
The chimpanzees were treated to massive apple & watermelon iceblocks "to stimulate their senses." Molasses, carrots and mulberry leaves artfully draped in a way to get the giraffes "to think and use their tongues." Custard and fruit pies to the Kodiak bears, lions with tasty meaty morsels in decorated boxes.
As you know, we need to "stimulate the challenges of living in the wild."
