scriptural explanation to my understanding of the mosaic law and the Sabbath.

IS there scripture which abolishes the Sabbath (Stephen's term 'abolition')? I don't recall reading any.

Well, now!!
.
Let's get this question straightened out. Were the days of the week made for us or were we made for the days of the week.**

.
Jesus asked a similar question about the Sabbath, didn't he?

- Abolition
I never said that the mosaic law was abolished. But let's take the mosaic law for what it was intended to be - and understand it and apply it accordingly. There were certain aspects of the law that Jesus clearly fulfilled, making them moot and unnecessary. And there are other aspects of the law that (if you read the Torah) applied to the Israelites - the Hebrew tribes.
This isn't something that I can conjure up one or two verses. We are in the area of systematic theology here, and that frankly doesn't lend itself to discussion boards very well. The posts would get pretty long.

- Jesus
One (and my liberal friends will like me for saying this) is that Jesus elevates the SPIRIT of the law higher than the letter of the law.
And two Jesus identifies Himself as the fulfillment of the law (and in the case of the Sabbath) as the "Lord of the Sabbath" (a clear assertion, btw, of his Deity).
Now, we have to chew on that. I don't see how someone can look at what Jesus said about the mosaic law - and then conclude that we should go BACK to the Old Testament and try to impose everything in the mosaic law to today.
And that's JUST based on what JESUS says. I haven't even gotten to the Apostle Paul - or the book of Hebrews (likely written by Paul too).

"I always liked Wednesday nites."
And my dictionary says Wednesday's the 4th day of the week and TV here, when 'Blue Heelers' was on, was truly great. And despite the 'ISO year' we write today ie Friday as 14/12/07...so it's all good. ![]()
The Sabbath?
"Since society does not trust that God will provide for the needs for His people, society cannot afford to cease economic activity for the day."
Food for thought...or for the table?

I had a chance to visit this link, and being of Messianic background find that it is lacking in credibility. My reasoning for this is simple. The author has no understanding of what the holy days are about. Just one example is that we have Hannakah being describes as the New Year which is the festival of Light or the Feast of Dedication (Dedicated due to the defilement of the temple). When simple facts are incorrect, it places the entire thesis in question.
Is there a place for these Holidays for believers of Christ? I believe there is. First if you are a stickler for words, they are an eternal commandment. Beyond this, we find that each Holy Day relates to the life of Christ in either events that have already occured or those about to occur.
