C. Wright Mills wrote the popular work, The Power Elite, which is one of the most revealing works ever done on the subject of power.
Here's a blurb, Power has to do with whatever decisions men make about the arrangements under which they life, and about the events which make up the history of their times."
.
You and I appear to agree on our distaste for George W. Bush and his ways; but, he is the decider and he does wield the power. He is correct in that he is the decider. I'm saying we cannot afford another sob like the one he is--that's why I am so set against men like Romney, McCain, Guiliani, etc. They make decisions on behalf of big money's interests--they represent the power elite. We need a revolution in our thinking.

Yep ... follow the money and power-brokers.
.
Elite theory
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_theory
(quote) "It argues that a small minority, comprised of members of the economic elite and policy-planning networks, hold the most power no matter what happens in elections in a country."...
.
Classical Elite theory
" The aristocratic version of this theory is the Classic Elite Theory which is based on two ideas 1. power lies in position of authority in key economic and political institutions 2. the psychological difference that sets Elites apart is that they have personal resources, for instance intelligence and skills; while the rest are incompetent and do not have the capabilities of governing themselves. "
.
IMO, this isn't a 'theory', but a reality. We 'incompetents' (#2 above) simply go through the motions electing public officials. We're led to believe that the candidate we select, and our vote, actually matters - when neither do. Big sigh.

There are good people that run for office.
.
Jimmy Carter was a good man and so was Dwight Eisenhower. I suppose JFK was a good man as well. The rest of them, well, you know.
.
My opinion of Mike Huckabee is that he is probably a good man and I think Edwards is as well. I hope they are the two who run for the presidency this coming year.
.
Biden is a good man.
.
I think we should vote for good people.

» pink101 - Huckabee vs. Obama

.
So, now it is Huckabee versus Obama!
.
New Hampshire is next.
.
One thing we know for sure about Huckabee has to do with his relationship with Wall Street where he is persona-non-gratia. In fact, that IS what makes him a viable candidate for a large percentage of voters on both sides of the party spectrum. But, at the same time, it also gives conservative Republican voters cause for pause. There is a Huckabee promise that he would oppose the moneyed interests of the multi-national corporations that have such a strangle hold on our political process. That ~~it seems to me~~ throws a monkey wrench into any Republican chance for winning the White House as BIG MONEY is not going to fall all over itself in support of Huckabee. Unless, of course, if they can buy him.
.
I don't think Huckabee is for sale.
.
Hilary is.
.
And, maybe Obama is as well.
.
Edwards isn't for sale.
.
I hope to see a Huckabee vs. Edwards election campaign.
.

In response to Huckabee vs. Obama posted by pink101:

Mike Huckabee is to the Republicans of 2008 what William Jennings Bryan was to the Democrats of 1896. Bryan bypassed and overpowered the monied interests of the Democratic Party (including the Grover Cleveland supporters) and won the nomination. The "Gold Democrats" then sat on their hands and allowed the populist Bryan to fall in defeat to Republican William McKinley (whose campaign won on MONEY, Mark Hanna, and MONEY).

I sense the same will happen w/ Huckabee. The Wall Street money interests are going to sit on their hands and money if he wins the GOP nomination. That is, of course, if they fail to deprive him of the nomination. I expect the knives to REALLY come out now.

.
BUT!
.
What is different today than 1896 has to do with communication. Still, the Democratic Party's1896 Convention marked the beginning switch from vertical lines of communication to the horizontal which is in full bloom today. We--no longer--are held to get our marching orders from the top down. Instead, we can easily access communication straight from the shoulder; so, Huckabee can reach directly into the living rooms of America. With the strong base of Evangelical Christianity, the message will be driven directly to the voter.
.
I expect the knives to REALLY come out now.
.
You can count on it. But, there--again--the BIG MONEYED INTERESTS will be set aside by horizontal communications.
.
This is the single THING that democracy has that speaks so loudly when push comes to shove--and it has. Liberal thinking Americans are fueling this struggle of the common people against the POWER ELITE. All the big and bad mouthed efforts that have been made against progressivism in America have been incubated at the very top and handed down through vertical communication within the Republican Party. Front line Republicans have been bamboozled by their leaders. Perhaps you will soon be able to recognize how Geogre W. Bush has been your worst enemy. And, when you do, you might sense the idea of what this old aphorism means, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.", the woman in this case being the common people of the Republican Party. You have been fed a line and you took it, bait, hook, line, and sinker. And, you will have to admit it before you will be able to break those chains that bind you. You cannot be redeemed until you know you've been lost. The truth will set you free from your bondage. Giddy-yup!
.
Huckabee might be the last great hope of the common people to reclaim the Republican Party back from the Power Elites who have had their way with you.
.
It's time for Evangelical Christians to get in touch with their common roots and to get off the conservative kick they've been riding thinking--somehow--they've been serving their values. Uh uh! No Way Jose! You've been used and abused by the top one percent of America's wealthiest who really don't give a hoot for democracy in any way whatsoever.
.
Knowing yourself is the first step toward being aware of your values.
.

In response to BUT! posted by pink101:

.
In the final analysis, the most powerful force in America has always been found in her common people. But, we need leaders who will help us unleash that power.
.
Is Huckabee the one who can do it? His name is a spin-off on German Immigrant dialect which meant, none of the above.
.
What a prophetic name.

Huckabee, New World Order Fascist
Mike Huckabee recently named Richard Haas (the President of the CFR) as his advisor on foreign policy. CNN's WOLF BLITZER asked "Who are your principal foreign policy advisers, Governor?" Mike Huckabee responded: "Well, I have a number of people from whom I get policy. I'm talking to Frank Gaffney, I talk to Richard Haas.."
http://www.ronpaulwarroom.com/?p=134
So what does Richard Haas believe in? Here's an article below which was written by Haas for the Tapei Times. It basically states the Bill of Rights and Constitution should be given up in favor of a cooperative world body run by elite consensus. Who needs individual rights in the techno-futuristic world police state? And you thought liberty was in jeopardy now? Just wait till you see what your children will have to deal with. Get activated folks, These police state freaks want to shape your future into a control grid enforced through the fear based reaction to state sponsored false flag terror.

State Sovereignty Must be Altered in Globalized Era
In the age of globalization, states should give up some sovereignty to world bodies in order to protect their own interests By Richard Haass

Huckster's campaign chairman, Ed Rollins, ran Reagan's 1984 reelection campaign --- which received a $10 million cash contribution from Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
