» Migisi - Snow Fence

In response to Snow Fence posted by pink101:

.
Thanks for the offer, Pink. happy My east/west driveway is 120 yards long (360 ft.) and already has a permanent fence running along it. THAT's the problem. Northerly snow dumps behind the fence into the drive creating hard-packed drifts. Our snow plow guy clears the drive, but I must hand shovel drifts between cars in the parking lot, sidewalks, stairs, decks, etc. My property is also a bird rehab center, so it has to be accessible to the public. But my main concern is keeping everything clear for emergency vehicles. I never know when my husband's old ticker might misfire again. Or mine might... from shoveling snow (wink).

Of course...the Republican Party isn't smart enough to pull the above off. I already know - from a VERY reliable source - that the McCain campaign plans to run on experience against Obama. So, they will lose....badly.

So, is it true about Israel First in Evangelical circles or isn't it?
.
Be careful how you answer. Remember, you're only grafted in to the family of God and can be easily cut out.

» Migisi - The Way to Beat Obama

.
Quoting the article Brian linked: "many Americans are so eager to elect an African-American president, they don't care whether the candidate is qualified."
.
Wow. I almost stopped reading the article after reading that ignorant and racist remark.
.
"His focus on change means he despises this country the way it is."
.
Shapiro implies that everyone - Democrat and Republican voters and candidates alike - who say they want 'change' also despise their country. The word 'change' has become the mantra for every Presidental candidate - Romney, McCain, Huckabee, Billary, Obama, Edwards -- name one who hasn't said it. Perhaps Shapiro hasn't been listening to any of their speeches to notice that?
.
The Obamas' constant emphasis on change carries the disturbing undertone that the country is a disaster requiring radical reform.
.
Which Presidential candidate has not claimed to be a candidate for change? Which one has not suggested reforms?
.
This isn't a message of optimism -- it's a message of profound pessimism.
.
As pessimist Shapiro sees things. He's got good reason for pessimism. His party and candidate have no chance of winning.

Pink, given the similarity between you and my father-in-law, I know better than to be drawn into a debate on the subject. Both of you are frankly irrational when it comes to the subject.

I will simply say that Christians believe the Bible, and the Bible teaches that God bestowed special favor on the Jewish people in the Old Testament era. (Of course, He also judged them severely at times). The New Testament, however, makes clear that there is "no difference between the Jew and the Greek." Today, the Gospel of Christ and the favor of God is equally available to all. (Ultra-Calvinists will differ with me on that last point, but I'm not a Calvinist).

In response to The Way to Beat Obama posted by Migisi:

Migisi, it is not racist or sexist to point out that there are some voters who are committed to either Hillary or Obama simply because they believe it's time to make history. It's not racist or sexist to say that. It's a fact.

It WOULD be racist and/or sexist to say that this is the ONLY reason why either is drawing support. That is not Shapiro's point, though. At least I don't believe it is.

As for change...

I don't think Shapiro is saying that any candidate who calls for "change" is unpatriotic. What Shapiro has done is shift into the area of political tactics. If you were managing McCain's campaign and you were probing for weakness in your opponent, what would you do? That's the angle Shapiro is taking.

And he's saying that Obama's weakness is how he beats "change" like a dead horse in all his campaign speeches, flyers, press releases, etc. If the GOP can find a way to take the "change" mantra and turn it back on Obama, they have a chance. Shapiro is suggesting such a way.

But, like you said, the GOP will not win this election. It is Obama's election to lose. Right now, he's on his way to a landslide.

» pink101 - The Way To Change

In response to The Way to Beat Obama posted by BrianTubbs:
.
You seem to repeat the general drill put out by the Republican and Evangelical spin machines that Obama is little more than words.
.
I don't think you fully grasp the purpose of the primaries. There's a lot more going on than the nomination of one candidate or another. The primaries are like a trial--the prolegomena to the real thing.
.
In the primary races, the competitors use what they think the opposition nominee will practice during the official elections. So, you will see the candidates using the very arguments the nominee's opponent will use during the final campaign. Hillary and Obama take turns bringing up the very arguments that the Republican nominee will use. It's good practice. See how well each candidate is able to defend his or her self from the charges. happy
.
I think the Republicans have made a mistake in that area as they really haven't assaulted each other as much as have the Democratic candidates.
.
If old squirrel face gets the Republican nomination and if he throws some of the cheap shots at Obama that Billary has taken, he will experience the whipping of his political career. He might hear those time worn words, No More Mister Nice Guy, used in reference to Obama.
.
One of the biggest problems the United States has in government has to do with the way the special interest lobby groups have bought our legislative and executive branches in Washington. Obama has taken aim at most of the lobby groups; but, he hasn't come out against the Israeli lobbyists and they are the ones that are forcing us into our foolish foreign policy that has cost us so much money and human life--all to make the Middle East safe for an Israeli hegemony.
.
We need an act of law that puts an end to allowing foreign governments to have any access to our legislature whatsoever. But, the Israeli lobby can bring sudden political death to anyone they choose. So, that change is not going to come easy.
.
The same is true of universal health care--it won't come easy. I think that is why Obama is allowing 15 million Americans to opt out. Congress will be the entity that writes the bill--as you know; so, the president cannot force his ideas. Hopefully, whoever wins the presidency, there will be a 60 plus percentage of his or her party in congress so that there can be the change the People want.
.
.
The entire area of lobby groups is an area where America needs wide open national discussions.
.
I hope that our next administration will provide America with some sort of an informational program to lift public awareness regarding the important issues of our Constitutional democracy.
