» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Terrible Judgment

In response to Huck's clemency for rapist posted by Migisi:

This is definitely a mark against Huckabee. I have read up on this. While I do think his opponents are exaggerating things to put the full burden and responsibility on Huckabee, there is nevertheless merit to the charge that Mike Huckabee exercised terrible judgment (or, I should say, misjudgment) in initially supporting commutation of Dumond's sentence (from which he pulled back) and later supporting parole for Dumond (which he pushed).

So, Migisi, I agree. Mike Huckabee exercised terrible judgment with respect to the Dumond case.

The question is...have we (in the past) had great leaders who, in times past, exercised terrible judgment - and yet went on to provide great leadership? I think the answer is "yes."

I understand that some people won't forgive Huckabee (esp those directly impacted by Dumond's vicious crimes). I understand that, and so does Huckabee. But I'm willing to look at Huckabee's overall record and not this one situation. And on that overall record, I am comfortable supporting him.

Yes, a tragic misjudgement. I can forgive ~anybody~ for a mistake - if they own up to it. What bothered me more was his denial and attempt to avoid responsibility by cover up and blaming others. The article exposed that, and his character, IMO.

Did you hear that Ron Paul's campaign raised $6 million ~overnight~? Heard it on CNN this morning. Seems the only thing that gets media attention is money.

» pink101 - Huckabee Goes Up

.
I think Huckabee goes up in the polls with his latest comment in regards to the Bush foreign policy.
.
Of course, many Republicans will recoil that he called Bush's foreign policy arrogant. But, that is exactly what it is.
.
I hope the race ends up between him and Edwards. I think either one of them has a good chance and they both stand for serious change.

In response to Huckabee Goes Up posted by pink101:

Mike Huckabee is not an establishment Republican candidate. In that sense, he does share some things in common w/ Ron Paul. But, unlike Paul, Huck's not a libertarian.

This is a good article on Huckabee's non-traditional GOP campaign...
