I don't think so. There's still plenty of time for major slip ups by the top contenders.

Yes, you are correct.
.
And, that's the kind of politics we can expect to come from any endorsement by Edward "Teddy" Kennedy for a candidate that some compare to J.F.K.
.
I don't know who I endorse at this point. I've been trying to come to some position. I thought, first, that Kucinic was the one. Then, Ron Paul, and then, Romney. I thought that even Huckabee could get my vote. I felt that Obama represented change; but, I didn't think he was strong for real change. Edwards looked most promising to me. But, Edwards cannot get a toe hold--he is too bland and has no apparent fire in his belly that you can see when he talks. The GOP faithful call him Pretty Boy.
.
I have to listen carefully to what Obama is saying as it looks like he might be the one who will be sitting in the Oval Office come next January.
.
If not Obama, who? Romney?
.
Neither is my first choice; but, I am only one person.
.
Either one represents great change.
.
Certainly I do not want to see another Clinton making choices for America's future.
.
Can you imagine our first non-white President Obama? How about our first non-Christian President Romney?
.
We're in for a sea change in American politics.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Sea change overstated

I think the sea change is overstated.

The "glass ceiling" for women rising to the highest office in the land in US politics was shattered with Margaret Thatcher. I hope I don't need to acknowledge this, but I'm fully aware that Thatcher was elected prime minister in the UK and not the US. That's not my point. My point is that, in the modern age, Thatcher emerged as one of the strongest, most respected leaders in the western world in the closing decades of the Cold War. That was not lost on American voters.

Since Thatcher, it has only been a matter of time before a woman came to the White House.

I'm obviously not a woman, but if I were, I don't believe I'd be supporting Hillary. Never mind her politics, which are of course, disagreeable. But, what's the inspiration?

Another Clinton?

She's part of a political machine - what is almost a modern dynasty. There's no glory for women in her being elected President.

If women want a role model, why not unite behind someone who rose to political prominence without being First Lady?

The women here can get mad at me, if they want. I won't push the point any further. I just don't see the appeal of Hillary Clinton. She's not being elected President, because of her own achievements. She's in a position to possibly become President, because of her part in the Clinton political machine.

For my own part, I can tell you that most conservatives would have no problem whatsoever voting for an American version of Margaret Thatcher. It's not the idea of a woman President that conservatives are upset about. It's the idea of another CLINTON in the presidency that conservatives are upset about.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Obama

With Barack Obama, there's the potential of a sea change in American politics, but not because of his race. At least I don't think so. This is where my generation may play a part here, but I was born in 1969. I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and was taught that racism was wrong. Taught it at home. Taught it at school. So, for me, there's never been a color barrier or color bias in terms of who I vote for, work for, work with, etc.

As a historian, however, I do see the color issue and acknowledge that it will be a significant milestone to have an African American President. But...I submit that this milestone would have been achieved sooner had Colin Powell pursued the presidency before and instead of serving as secretary of state under George W. Bush.

I can not - in good conscience - support any presidential candidate who would align himself with creep Ted. Why would Obama accept his endorsement? Does he really need it?
.
Quoting from:
http://news.aol.com/political-machine/20...
.
"....That sure sounds like good news for Obama, but I am seriously wondering what the Kennedy name and endorsements are worth in Democratic political circles today. Certainly not what it used to be, but apparently enough that Bill [Clinton] would personally plead to stop it. My guess is that the endorsement itself may not mean that much, but access to Ted Kennedy's network and list of donor names is absolutely priceless."
.
There you have it. As I see it, Obama's sold his soul to the devil.

Why would Obama accept [Ted Kennedy's] endorsement? Does he really need it?
.
I think we have to get over the personal idea of who or what Ted Kennedy represents in any single person's mind. He could be a street bum; but, so what?
.
His political capital within the Democratic Party is such that he is able to control a major block of the Democratic Party card carrying membership with the nod of his head. And, that same political capital buys the votes of vast numbers of people who consider themselves to be loyal Democrats on election day.
.
If Ted Kennedy sez, I support Obama, the Clinton party has to vacate the hall except as a cheering section for the official nominee. It says that the struggle is over and that the new boy has won. Hands down.
.
I cannot imagine anyone wanting any of the old politics to continue when we are so close to closing the book on it. Can you?
.
The Clintons are the best Republicans the Democratic Party has ever endorsed.
