In response to Kanthia - A Tiger posted by pink101:

I took the test again.
.
This time my daemon came out as Meida--a snow leopard.
.
Close to my first one.
.
My brother actually owned a pet leopard. They are beautiful animals and very agile. When I first was at his house and the leopard came up to me, she put her mouth on my upper arm and pressed her teeth just enough so as not to penetrate my skin. One ounce more and she would have drawn blood. She let me know that she was completely in charge. My brother ordered her to let go and she did.
.
I made it a rule never to upset that leopard.

But, anyway, here is my site:

The movie looks really cool, but I think everyone needs to be aware of the agenda behind it - one I suspect Migisi supports and Pink is sympathetic to. (If I'm wrong, correct me). But there IS an agenda - and Christian families should be aware of that agenda.

Your blog was interesting.
.
Are you coming to be aware of the fact that we live in the Information Age and in how that is impacting our belief systems?
.
I think you are.
.
I have noticed that youtarget Post Modernism and Existentialism as though they might be seen as enemies of our culture. Perhaps you are correct and maybe they are.
.
The hallmarks of Post Modernism and Existentialism are that neither allows what was to be without question.
.
If I were in your position as a Baptist minister, I would deal with the current load of criticism against religion head on. What do you have to fear?
.
Nada!

Consider yourself corrected (by me, anyway). I have no 'agenda' to support or promote.
.
I've read the blog already. It's the same tiresome hype I've read about 'Harry Potter', the 'Divinci Code', Disney's 'Priest', yadda yadda.
.
Yes, Pullman is an atheist and humanist, as are/were other writers like Isaac Asimov (sci-fi author), Sir Arthur C. Clarke (sci-fi author), Ron Reagan (President Ronald Reagan's son, magazine journalist), George Bernard Shaw (Nobel Prize and Oscar winner), etc. Pullman's a very successful writer too. His trilogy books have sold over 15 million copies around the world. His 'Northern Lights' won the 'Carnegie Medal for Children's Literature' in '95. 'The Amber Spyglass', won the Whitbread Prize in '01 - the first children's book to ever do so. This year, Pullman won the 'Carnegie of Carnegies' for the best children's books over the last 70 years.
.
Christians certainly have the option to boycott 'The Golden Compass' as anti-Church. Just like the Jews boycotted 'The Passion of Christ' movie as anti-semitic, and the Arabs boycotted 'The Kingdom' movie as anti-Islam. Whatever!
.
It sounds like a fun fantasy movie to me, and I'm sure the gamers will be snatching up the vid game like hot cakes (which will be released four days before the movie, btw).

We live in 'the world'... I do not believe the "church" has to right to dictate to the world.. As a Christian, all I can do is share the gospel message. God does the rest!.. happy

I probably will go see it.. not for its plot or story line.. but.. for its graphics..

I mean.. I sure do wish I could sit with me dog, or cat for that matter.. and have them explain to me 'the meaning of life"...

but.. would be nice to have an armored plated Polar Bear as well.. Of course, PETA probably would not stand silent! haha..

...and the keeps turning...........

From the trailers, the graphics look fantastic. I watched the much-hyped TV mini series 'Tin Man', and IMO it stunk bad. I hope the Compass doesn't disappoint.

Well, that's simple for a dog and cat... survive, reproduce, die.

I dunno, Bo... a 10 foot tall, 1700 pound bear in your livingroom? I'd stick with the gorilla. (wink and ha!)

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Tiresome Hype

In response to Golden Compass posted by Migisi:

Migisi,

Philip Pullman has said (and I quote): "I'm trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief." That's Pullman - IN HIS OWN WORDS!!

It may be "tiresome hype" (to your ears and eyes) to read me and other Christians warning parents about this man's avowed agenda. So be it. I fully expect you to go see the movie and its sequels - and to enjoy them. I'm sure you will enjoy the books as well, if you haven't already read them. Based on Pullman's quote above, he's right up your alley.
