» pink101 - When The Sun Shines

In response to Jesus Jefferson posted by Migisi:
.
I see that Kansas City as well as middle to northern Illinois over to just west of Chicago is going to get it bad and that ain't good. Freezing rain that will turn to a half inch or so of ice which will knock out utilities for major numbers of people. Nothing worse than an ice storm; although, everything is beautiful in the morning when the sun shines.
.
Thing that is going on in my mind about the claim that there is overwhelming evidence--for example--about Jesus is that the more I see and read those bodacious claims the more I am convinced it's all hype and fluff. They would do far better to admit to the fact that it is a belief the way people did when I was a boy. "Me thinks he doth protest too much." happy
.
I caught the tail end of a C-Span Book Review with Frank Schaeffer, the son of the famous Francis Schaeffer, yesterday. And, tonight, I dropped in at Barnes and Noble for a break and picked up his latest book and read the first three chapters. Then, I got a phone call and had to leave. But, I'm going back tomorrow and I will buy the book. If you're not familiar with it, I suggest everyone get a copy to read.

.
Maybe I already mentioned it in another thread?

M't:16:13-17: When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

.
So, now the ice is building up across the central Mid-western United States.
.
Oklahoma really got it.
.
Last night it looked like Southwestern Michigan would be safe; but, it is beginning to build up on our highways. One nearby interstate has been closed as a result of an18 wheeler that spun out of control and jack-knifed. I wonder how Illinois and K.C. fared in this onslaught of nature.

Cities spread enough salt to keep their streets thawed. Rural roads, however, are great for skating. There's ice buildup on the trees... but not as heavy/thick as Missouri. MANY school closings here. Reports here of 7 killed in separate car accidents from just our neighboring towns - all related to icy conditions over the last few days.
.
BTW, Chicago is in the midst of its 21st coldest December in 137 years. And, I can't recall a December when ice and snow occurred so early and kept up so long. So much for global warming.

I saw some pics and new casts from KC this morning on CNN. It looks mighty bad there, Bo. I'd stay inside! Those heavy tree branches are gonna weaken and fall. Hopefully, nobody's under them when they do. Glad you have elect. Half a million folks don't, and won't for a week. Imagine having no heat for a week, and can't go anywhere cuz of the icy streets!! The frozen pipes! I HATE winter.
.
Everybody must've stayed home today and they're on the internet. My puter's getting slower and s-l-o-w-e-r and .... or, ice is building up on the wireless tower and my receiver.

In response to ya know when posted by Migisi:
.
How about putting a freeze on Free Trade?
.
Followed up by the rebuilding of America's industrial base with rules and regulations in place to require responsible manufacturing with reasonable price and wage controls.
.
And, oh yeah. Harness and bridle capitalism to make it work for We the People rather than for the multinationals. After all, it is OUR country--not theirs.
.
It CAN be done.
.
The first step is to imagine that it IS possible.
.
But, there will always be nay-sayers and plenty of them.
