Ask Brian.

Most people can see the difference right off. You gotta be blind not to see it. Are you blind?
.
Ask Brian how much money he gets from foreign Israeli sources. That will be a starter.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Mega-church pastors

In response to John C. Hagee or Brian Tubbs posted by pink101:

Not to be a wishy-washy, man-pleasing, fence-straddler happy, but you both (Pink and Wendell) are right. Technically, Hagee IS a pastor. However, he is a mega-church pastor sitting atop a substantial "ministry empire" (for lack of a better term).

When you get to that level, it's very difficult to have a meaningful, shepherd-type relationship with your congregation.

It's the difference between being a city councilman in a small to mid size city and Governor of a large state. Technically, both the city council member and the governor are "public servants," but in reality, their interaction with their constituency is very different.

Now, I'm not going to say that it's wrong to have a large church and media ministry, but (at that level) I think it becomes VERY difficult to keep one's priorities right, the ego in check, and manage the temptations that come with that kind of exposure and wealth.

Some like Billy Graham do pretty well with it. Others, like Ted Haggard, don't.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Billy Graham

Before anyone jumps on me, I know that Billy Graham is NOT a "pastor." He is a preacher, an evangelist. My point on Graham is that he's done pretty well in keeping his reputation and testimony intact.

» pink101 - Does That Answer Your Question?

In response to Foreign Israeli sources posted by BrianTubbs:
.
Who do I call to get that funding, Pink?
.
First, you write a letter to Netanyahoo in which you tell him that your congregation includes members that can influence foreign aid policy to Israel and you invite him to come and be a visiting speaker at Siglo. Netenyahoo is the secret first contact. Ask Johnny Boy Haggee about that one. And, oh yeah, you gotta be very politically active in supporting Eratz Israel (Greater Israel the borders of which go into present day Iraq and include most of the Middle East).
.
.
Next, you call every possible media contact letting them know that he will be there for meetings.l
.
Then you make sure you have an auditorium large enough to handle a massive crowd.
.
You have to be sure that you have built a replica of the Wailing Wall on Siglo's campus.
.
Don't worry, the money from Israel will come pouring down into baskets pressed down and over flowing--like manna from Heaven.
.
I think you do a good job of explaining the difference to Wendell. The Pastor IS a shepherd and he has to have a VERY PERSONAL relationship with his flock--one on one. That is something that a corporate leader like Haggee cannot ever do. The pastor shares a similarity with the physician, the psychiatrist, the marriage counselor, the family counselor, the psychologist, and the adviser of every type.
.
So, now, how do you pay such a person?
.
They NEVER get their economic worth in pay. It's something they have to experience in their soul. My hat is off to the REAL pastors of America. There aren't many of them left--generally they are in small rural areas. And, their congregations bemoan the fact they are unable to pay them more.
.
Does that answer your question?
.
happy
.
With all our differences, I think we all get the idea that you are that kind of a pastor.
.
