Would you be willing to pursue the idea of spirit no matter if it were good or bad?
.
Would you be open minded and use critical thinking or would you block any open mindedness?
.
Sister Turtle seems quite open minded on such challenges. I think she might go along with such a pursuit.
.
Whaddayuh say, Jonsey, ol' pal?

In response to Let's focus on NT posted by Brother_Jones:

Have you ever attended a Seance? What did you think? Can one person do a hell of a lot of damage it they begin speaking from a personal spiritual insight? Doesn't the same sort of thing present some problems in the church of Christ? Don't we need some sort of group focus to proceed in the quest of following Christ?
.
Never been to a seance, and have no interest in attending one. All I know about them is via movies or TV, and I have no idea how accurate those representations are.
.
Yes, people speaking from personal spiritual insight could, concievably, cause damage--but so can those who claim to speak solely on the authority of the Bible. What is needed is balance, and the tempering of knowledge with wisdom and compassion.
A group, such as the church, can contribute to such tempering, but many of the great mystics, and the early church fathers/mothers, spent much time in solitude communing with God. Their words are still valued as a source of guidance and inspiration.
.
Besides, my experiences with peace demonstrations in the 60's convinced me group think isn't always such a good thing.
.
peace and love,
Paper Turtle
PS--I don't feel you have really adequately answered my question.

You forget to throw in 'indifferent.' We are getting away from the topic.

Obviously the Spiritworld where some folk here get their personal revelations does have a possibility of going badly. But my understanding of those Christians who believe not in demons, Satan, hell or bad lighting in the Twilight Zone, is that all their own personal experience with revelations are almost always solid and certifiable.

Is that approaching the subject with an open mind?

I think your major beef is with the idea that some Christians are denying the importance of individual revelation. I guess you are going to need to provide for some here, some sort of example or evidence that Christians are doing this. I attempted to agree with you, but I may have not given a very clear answer. Many Christians like me aren't familar with early Mystics or those who secluded themselves for long periods of time like Augustine in the 5th Century. It looks like I am going to have to get back into my garage books today and try to locate some Mystics, unless you have some ready examples. I haven't spent very much time with them like you have. It could be another good thread, unless we bog down on Buddha. lol.

You asked if I could consider the world of spirits, no matter if it was good or bad?

I volunteer this information. If I contact a spirit today, or if I see a spirit, I will initiate some sort of test or question to determine if the spirit is good or bad. I do think the Spiritworld operates quite a bit differently than the world of men in a lot of ways, so I wouldn't want to play around with a spirit or angel without first finding out who he/she represents. Obviously, there are some here who take these comments of mine as being from a religious fanatic, because they are already of the opinion that no Spiritworld exists. Some even claim to be Christians and do not believe in a Spiritworld. Some of these folks' name begin with the letters PI.

Well, I guess a little bit. I have stumped my little toe twice and broken it once trying to get to the toilet in years past.

Look, I believe what Jesus said about the Spiritworld and the afterlife. I could be wrong, but I'm stickin with Jesus. I think you believe what you and Migisi have conjured up these last few years that no Spiritworld exists. At least you have one person to agree with. Maybe Carl Sagen knows the answer now to that question.

Thank God for choices. lol.

Do you think the absence of light provides bad or evil spirits more access than when there is light?

How do you think--or--what do you think is the process through which spirits come into being?

Uh, well, uh, gee, how does that square with your posts in this and other threads that you have no hope for or belief in the afterlife? Do you simply reject the words of Jesus on the matter?
