Migisi has again attacked the doctrine of the Trinity. I will once again refer her (and others interested) to this video clip from Dr. Ravi Zacharias...

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - John Ortberg

Zacharias tackles the Trinity doctrine from an intellectual and academic perspective (and one that several of you will probably appreciate more than this one and Strobel's). Ortberg addresses it more from a relational perspective...

p.s. I got a kick out of Ortberg's story about Muhammad Ali and the airplane seatbelt. happy

» redback - Francis Beckwith

In response to Francis Beckwith posted by BrianTubbs:

"...When God became man in Christ Jesus God the Son did not "give up" his divine attributes, but simply took on a human nature and denied his human mind access to his divine mind. Consequently, when he said he did not know something he was speaking truly since in the incarnation he willingly gave up access to omniscience, though he remained omniscient, since God cannot give up any of his attributes and still remain God. Therefore, when Jesus said "the Father is Greater than I" (John 14:28), he was referring to his current incarnate position in relation to the first person of the Trinity."

And how it all fits in seamlessly with 1 Timothy 2:5 referring to the sole mediator, the man, Jesus.

I have a memory of someone giving a far more easier-to read understanding of the 'Trinity'. If my memory serves me right...it was Paper Turtle.

Maybe the video I also can't access...makes it clearer. To me, it isn't about "how amazing God is to do all that" and I do hear people respond that way to me. But isn't it amazing how the Bible...a separate entity to the 'Trinity', needs to "talk" or encourage talk like that.

In response to Francis Beckwith posted by redback:

As I can't access any of the videos kindly linked here by Brian, I found this Apologetics for Christians website that gives a 'simple' explanation:

http://www.afcministry.com/Explaining_th...

This separates what is the trinity...and within the link, what is the doctrine of trinitarianism.

From reading within it, if we get it wrong and keep it wrong, we die sinful.

» Migisi - of -isms

In response to of -isms posted by redback:
.
From the linked article: "If an egg, a peach, and water can have three distinct things and all be one at the same time, than the Almighty should have no problem."
.
There are more than ~three~ distinct parts to an egg. There are eight - the shell, outer membrane, inner membrane, vitelline membrane, chalaza, air cell, albumen, and the germinal disc.
.
There are more than three parts to a peach. There are four - the outer skin, pulp, a hard endocarp (pit), and the seed inside the endocarp.
.
There are not ~three~ DISTINCT parts to water. Yes, there are three atoms, but the two Hydrogen molecules (written H2) are identical, of the same stuff. (This does not fit the triune concept of three distinct persons of God - unless God has an identical twin.) Furthermore, each atom has a nucleus, and inside the nucleus are particles - protons, neutrons, and electrons. Hydrogen has one proton and one electron, oxygen has eight protons and eight electrons.
.
It appears to me that the author is attempting to bend science to fit the trinity doctrine. The Almighty, who is ~not~ a material being, can have a guzillion 'things' all rolled into one - with no problem. Why limit God to three?

In response to List of triple deities posted by pink101:

.
When I ask of the significance, I'm asking, "Why do we need a trinity god?".
.
As far as I am able to figure, there can only be one reason--only one reason for the Trinity.
