Crikey...is this my amblyopia?
"wabout ho's telling the least lies on this issue"
should have read "...about who's telling the least lies..." although I coulda referred instead to identifying who's telling the 'truth'. It's just in this global issue, 'truth' is one slippery sucker that seems irrelevant to what's needed to resolve it.

And so will the nukes.... an est. 20,000+ nuclear weapons possessed by just 8 countries - the US having over half of them.

What the Rosenbergs did, Pink, was treason. And they deserved to be executed for it. Period.

Now, how can I take exception to anything you say without you accusing me of attacking you?
Pink, et al...
A good, vigorous, issue-oriented discussion is just fine. But what I get upset at is when the argumentation drifts into ad hominem...
From Wikipedia...
An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the man", "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim. The process of proving or disproving the claims is thereby subverted, and the argumentum ad hominem works to change the subject.
...and then I get personally offended when the ad hominem is directed at me. As, I would think, anybody would.
Once a thread goes ad hominem and starts getting into name-calling (like Pink's latest attack on Bush - calling him a 'dirty, rotten ----'), then debate pretty much ends. We're not 'peeling the onion' (Pink's phrase), we're just slinging graffiti against the cyber world's equivalent of the bathroom wall. I'm not interested in that kind of discussion. But, that's where we always end up, when the subject turns to Bush, Iraq, the Middle East, etc. It's too bad.
