In response to The God's Aren't Angry Tour posted by Migisi:

Take notes and share them with us, won't you?

lol. I think Rob Bell would probably approve of your suggestion for me to take notes and describe accurately what he said. I do wonder if you could trust me to do just that. After all, I am me. Who could say that I am fair and balanced?

Rob had some things. lol. He spoke a little about those who don't put their faith in any ancient story. He claims such folk do have faith, but they won't often share it. I sorta disagree. Having watched the Emergent Folks for a couple of years, I see many of their folks claiming and testifying that the new faith is no faith in any bible story. And the no faith seems to be working enough to fill a few churches and venues like last evening completely jampacked full of the college educated. I think part of the answer to why the Emergent Experience is important is because our best and brightest kids didn't grow up talking in useless babble with family members at reunions about Religion. But we sent them off to places of higher education where professors began to deconstruct the bible and Evangelicals. I suppose that is some kind of high calling for those who are called into Religious philosophy by some spirit. But the asking questions stage is giving way to the affirmation stage that all of us little humans want to believe something about how it all might work. Just like you posted, many of the Emergents want to put their faith in the belief that man created all the gods. But they also want to find something for Jesus to do. And hopefully, they wish to spend their precious moments on planet earth with a new job assignment for Jesus to convert a few fundamentalists away from their foolishness of thinking their Jesus saves them.

i'm just an oldtimer for the Lord.

I think you're entirely capable of being both.
.

.
Wouldn't I be proof of Bell's claim? I have no belief in ancient legends, and you've complained that I don't share my beliefs with you.
.

.
I think many religious traditionalists have major difficulty cutting the Bible umbilical cord, so to speak. It's as if God can't live independently -- the Bible is the sole source for God's existance, rather than the other way around. I suppose that's true in a sense. Without the Bible legends, adherents wouldn't know their God's character and name, what pleases or displeases him, and wouldn't know his friends, champions, and his kid.
.
Just like you posted, many of the Emergents want to put their faith in the belief that man created all the gods.
.
If not man, then who or what created Zeus, Thor, Horus, Mercury, Coatlicue, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Manu, Marduk.... and Yahweh and his consort goddess Asherah (the Shekinah)?
.
But they also want to find something for Jesus to do.
.
What might 'they' want the man-god Jesus to do? Got any ideas?

No, I don't any ideas about that.

I think once you remake the story of Jesus to fit your own tastes, then eventually He goes His own way. I believe in Jesus Christ, as you have already heard me post many times. He is the answer. He is the hope for our future.

Any chance of getting any kind of a straight answer from you about whether you believe in a god of any kind?

» _Boanerges_ - DECEPTION OF THE EMERGING CHURCH

from one of my favorite ministries......

DECEPTION OF THE EMERGING CHURCH, Part 1
Thursday, December 13, 2007
mms://srcwm.webcastcenter.com/src/src_121307.wma

Host: Larry Spargimino

Guest: Roger Oakland

Roger Oakland presents the dangers of the Emerging Church, how it is leading thousands into error through Vintage Christianity and the Eucharistic Jesus, and why this could be the great falling away spoken of by the Apostle Paul preceding the Great Tribulation.

DECEPTION OF THE EMERGING CHURCH, Part 2
Friday, December 14, 2007
mms://srcwm.webcastcenter.com/src/src_121407.wma

Roger Oakland details why Emerging Church leaders feel fundamentalist Christians are their "enemies," how these leaders are anti-Israel and anti-Bible prophecy, and gives an impassioned plea for the return to sound Bible doctrine before the Lord returns and it is too late.
