When we look at the world-wide, regional, national, local, and even our situation here in these discussion forums, is it really religion that divides us? Or is it merely the lever that is used to set us apart?

Is there something else more to the point?

I'm sure that religion is a part of it--the part that is most obviously seen on the surface. But, as we look at the religious influences in the lives of people over the centuries, we might see another factor that is more deeply entwined in our division and it behooves us to have some insights for a deeper understanding.
