If by "false teacher," we mean "incorrect teachers," then ANYBODY who disagrees with you is, by default, from YOUR point of view, a "false teacher."

But I would not be that harsh or judgmental with respect to most of my fellow Christians. happy

Yep. And the preacher you see as a false teacher thinks YOU are the false teacher. In that expanding cycle, everyone is a false teacher. What fun. happy

Your calling is to provide a cultural reason for the evidence that you have good cause for believing Jesus isn't God, Lord, or anything that can really bring sparks to the mind portal.

What can I say now that you've defined my reality for me? I guess the only left for me to say is that I have met many like you--all of them big headed blow-hards none of whom truly knows what it is they are talking about.

Sorry to hear about your friend. He is lucky to have someone like you. I agree with the first part of your blow-hard statement, but I have some reservations about the latter. Maybe I don't truly know you. Okay, I'll agree with that also.

» redback - Is Jesus God?

In response to Is Jesus God? posted by Migisi:

I would have liked Brotherjones to give his worthy (to me) opinion on the illness-to-sin ratio AND the above hotlink when he responded to me, but..... The link I found clearly shows its in the mix somewhere even if it's not a "core" Christian belief. Similarly Brian's reference to there being no promise of prayer being answered...is that a core belief? What are core misbeliefs?

I'm also not assuming these 2 separate issues (illness 2 sin AND prayer) are deal breakers either...but they also aint...what's the opposite to deal breaker? happy A no-brainer FOR Christianity?

"Studies of more than 126,000 people have shown that those who regularly attend church are 29 per cent more likely to live longer than non-churchgoers. A University of Texas study found that church attenders live up to seven years longer than non-attenders, and the most regular attenders have the longest life expectancy."

I think a Texan happy added that info but here's one from a site I trust:
"...As sin was central to mental illness, religious activity was believed to be central to cure...."
http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/186_...

A different tack, where spirituality actually helps recovery. But I suspect at times a confusion between cause and effect. Kinda like the hotel industry funding AA meetings. happy

Sometime after Adam slammed the door behind him, illness was created. He had no genetic problems, right? Just as medieval times re surgery etc is fascinating, an historical journey of illness through the Bible's eyes would be interesting...to me. happy

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Clarification on Prayer

In response to Is Jesus God? posted by redback:

I didn't say there was no promise of prayer being answered. I said there the Bible makes no promise that God will end suffering in this present life. I know of many people (myself included) who can testify to answered prayers in their life. But the bottom line is that our hope isn't to be in THIS life, but rather the next.

.
"Adam and Eve were placed in the world as the seed and expression of God. Just as dogs have puppies and cats have kittens, so God has little gods; ... Until we comprehend that we are little gods, we cannot manifest the kingdom of God" (Earl Paulk, Satan Unmasked p. 97).

And they say I'm crazy, lol.

I trust what the Bible says. It says I am not a god, as well as saying Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah, the Saviour. He was, and is, God in the flesh. He is part of the trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Bible hasn't been wrong about anything else, so I trust it is right about this subject.

» Migisi - Is Jesus God?

In response to Is Jesus God? posted by EvilChihuahua:
.
I trust what the Bible says. It says I am not a god,...
.
Read Psalm 82:1 "God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods." Interesting. A 'congregation' of 'mighty' gods.
.
Then vs 6 - "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." Hence, all believers are the progeny of God - children of the most High - gods by lineage (and created in the most High's image and likeness). But alas, the most High decided to have you 'die like men' (vs 7).
.
Jesus repeats and uses Psalm 82:6 for his defense in John 10:34. The Jews were about to stone him for blasphemy - because he said he was God's son. Jesus said, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'? 35If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came-and the Scripture cannot be broken- 36what about the one [speaking of himself] whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world?" In other words, if God declared that men of old were his children, and therefore gods, why was it blasphemy for Jesus to claim to be the son of God too? Why would it be heresy for you, Jones, Brian, or any believer in the Bible God, to claim the same?
.
Just for discussion...
