In response to Off The Wall Idiots posted by Migisi:

IMO, folks need to 'consider the source' when reading articles from AiG.

The sources of these articles include the works of Dawkins and his mates.:)

» EvilChihuahua - Religious Rights or Be Grateful for What You Have

I've been thinking lately (I know, I'm surprised too) about all these people complaining about their religious rights. On AiG I offen see them complaining about how they haven't got the freedom to teach their worldview in public schools. I go on an Atheist site and see them complain because the word "God" is on their money. I see the Christians bitch about their lack of freedom in public. I see the Muslims, the Hindus, the Mormons, the Scientologists, etc. complaining about their lack of freedom too.

However, I have never heard someone being grateful for the freedom they have now.

A Christian can't preach on city property, but they can still freely open a church to the public. In China, churches are illegal, save for the Government control churches, and people who want to go to church have to make sure they aren't being followed, and even then, throughout the service they're all expecting the secrete police to burst through the doors.

AiG bitch about not being able to take their ideas into public schools, but they should be grateful that they can open a website to the public and sell magazines and even open their Creation Museum.

The Atheists bitch about the word "God" being everywhere, but they should be grateful that they can say "I'm an Atheist" without being burnt at the stake. A Wiccan/pagan can also declear their faith to the public without facing the same fate.

I just think we should be grateful that we live in nations that allow us to believe what we want and that give us freedoms to start with. It's better to have very little freedom than none.

Does anyone agree with me on this or am I the only one?

.
AiG is the source YOU linked for these articles.
.
"...Rage" was written by Mark Looy, CCO, who is chief communications officer of AiG USA, and one of its founders.
.
"Atheism..." was written by Dr. Jason Lisle. He is "helping AiG (and the creation movement as a whole) refute the evolutionary account of origins" (per his biography at AiG). Lisle helped design the planetarium exhibit at Ham's Creation Museum.
.
Both also sells their books, and do the lecture circuit around the country (no doubt, for a hefty tax-free honorariums). So, for either to imply that Dawkins etc. motivation is money - well, they need to take a hard look in the mirror.
.
Given their connection to AiG, would you agree that their views are strongly biased toward religion -- just as biased as Dawkins and Hitchens are against religion?

As the saying goes, we don't appreciate what we've got until it's gone. And that's exactly the issue, Kim. Protecting the freedoms we all have now - for the future. There are some who seek to take our liberty away. Personally, I want freedom ~of~ and ~from~ religion. I want everyone to be free to follow their own spiritual path, but I don't want their beliefs forced upon me or mine.
.
A lawyer once told me, "A fair compromise is when both parties walk away from the negotiation table feeling like they've been screwed". If BOTH the atheists and the religionists are complaining, then it's a fair compromise, no? We need to pursue balance.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Considering the Source

In response to Off The Wall Idiots posted by Migisi:
People should consider the source when reading ANYTHING, but why does Migisi single out Answers in Genesis for suspicion. The reason is her bias (dare I say "contempt"?) for all things Christian. So, to readers of her posts, I say: "Consider the source."

Disclaimer: The above "consider the source" comment applies only to her denunciations of Christianity and Christians and NOT to her overall character as a person. Migisi, I admire your commitment to your family, your compassion for people that are suffering (including those who have suffered at the hands of religious abuse), your service as a law enforcement professional, your intelligence, etc., etc. I want to make that clear. But...I don't respect your anti-Christian anger and cynicism.

.
I don't 'single out' AiG. I'm suspicious of ~every~ radically one-sided source. (Ask Wendell about my views on thecuttingedge, and a few other sites.)
.
The reason is her bias (dare I say "contempt"?) for all things Christian. So, to readers of her posts, I say: "Consider the source."
.
I'd prefer to give my own 'reason', rather than what YOU think my reason is, Bri. However, I agree readers should always 'consider the source'. Nobody should rely on anyone -- Brian, me, or any website -- to do their thinking for them.
.
I don't respect your anti-Christian anger and cynicism.
.
You being a Christian pastor (a "biased" source who has, "dare I say 'contempt'?" for all things nonChristian), I'd expect that. But, as Wendell says, 'I still like ya'. happy
