And now, time for my rant.:)
Religion should not effect ones vote. I'll vote for Richard Dawkins if I think he's gonna be a great leader. I know many Christians are gonna vote for Bush because he claims to be a Christian, even after all the trouble he's caused, and I know many Christians in my church are gonna vote Liberal next month because John Howard says he's a Christian (even though he's linked to the Exclusive Brethren, Australia's most powerful and most dangerous religious cult, which has destroyed thousands of innocent lives). Strangly enough, they are very down on Labor leader Kevin Rudd, saying Labor is "anti-Christian", even though Rudd is not a only a Christian but he's also very open about his faith and, unlike Howard, is very willing to talk about it. I think so many Aussie Christians are down on Rudd since he wants freedom for all religions, while Howard seems to want to force the Country to be Christian (or at least what he thinks is Christianity ie. brown nosing Bush, slamming gays, Muslims, people who don't celebrate Christmas and people who watch The Chasers War on Everything [funny show IMO]). BTW, Rudd was invited to meet with representatives of the Exclusive Brethren but refused saying that they (quote) "Destroy families".
If you ask me, religion is an issue but it's not the only one.
Anyway, that's my rant for today.:)

Keyword is 'claims'. How do you (anyone) know who's a Christian? By his 'claim' -- or by his 'fruits'? In other words, 'actions speak louder than words'. That's what ~I~ go by. SHOW me you're (anyone) a Christian, don't TELL me you are.

Of course, here I was thinking both sides of Aussie politics equally can't be trusted...whether or not they wave the Christian flag of convenience. OK...there is some 'link' between the Exclusive Brethren and little Johhny Howard, our beloved Prime Munster. But is there ANY element of politics or any politician that can claim to be UNlinked to anything contentious. Even Dubya is within '6-degrees of separation' from everything evil, isn't he?
I know you want Rudd for PM. Sylvia Gillard used to be a paid organiser for the Socialist Forum...started by members of the Communist Party...and young Sylvia is hankering to be our next Deputy Prime Minister.
So...what will cause people to check who's hiding under their bed? The fear there is a Christian...or Communist...lurking there?
Or the increasing Americanisation of OZ?

In response to My Rant posted by Migisi:It seemed to me at the time of posting that what America calls 'globalisation', other countries may see as 'Americanisation'. Of course there are lesser streams of influence and puddles of lesser value...and maybe also an Asianisation going on here. And I carry on despite it all, not because of it. ![]()
American cinema swamps the local industry thus the lifestyle it portrays. TV ads are rRe-voiced and "reality" TV shows overtake. The back2front baseball cap and other teen street fashions. People are dialling 911 by fatal mistake rather than 000. In fact, 911 is being introduced ie we reverse the date and not without confusion eg 911 used to be 9th November so we need more care with appointments? The "battler" is becoming the attitudinal "loser"...or "whatever".
Like movies, it is cheaper to promote and sell American music.
Maybe it's all just a side effect of globalisation? We're now a $trillion economy trying to live like the multitrillion US version. Togo isn't having much impact here so we don't blame them.
