I had a thought I wanted to post, please feel free to discuss the thought but don't drag 'me' into it.
.
Don't drag YOU into it?
.
Aren't you the one who is already into it?

I thought that was an odd statment Stephen made, too. And I agree, the stereotyping and prejudice is pretty obvious. Likely generated more from ignorance than from malice, I suspect. (Giving Stephen benefit of the doubt.)

I'm not so sure.

The Libertine doctrines are quite prevalent in today's society. It's what the Neo-Cons preach.
.
Government should be limited to defending us against everyone else and providing us with police to keep law and order. Other than that, no government. Everyone fends for themselves.
.
My son attends pow wows with his buddy. They go to a reservation in Wisconsin. My dream as an adolescent boy was to grow to be an Indian Brave. I have spent many hours alone in an area known to have been Native American camping grounds. I used to think that I had some sort of communication with the departed whose spirits still frequented the place. And, I thought they welcomed me as I danced there. That was when I was ten and eleven years old. I also spent long hot summers days from morning till dusk on Indian Lake in Kalamazoo County, in a small boat my grandfather made for me. Hiyah ho ho ho... echoes in the caverns of my mind. How horrid it was for that great people to have suffered so.
.
It takes a peculiar mind set to see things as they are explained in post number one of this thread.

"I can almost bet [Steven is] for Ron Paul."
.
If you go back over this thread and read it carefully, you will see there is a particular mind set that supports Ron Paul for purely selfish reasons--not that there is anything wrong in looking out for one's self. But, we do have to be concerned about those people that have been forced into the underclasses. It's not all laziness and living off the dole.

You're right. Some are victims of circumstance, sometimes not of their own doing. And ya never know, tomorrow I may be sleeping in a mission cot next to theirs.

There's a recent book out there by the title of "Redemption".
.
You can Yahoo or Google it and read some of the reviews.
.
It deals with the subject.
.
I think a lot of people are showing support for Ron Paul for some very good reasons. But, there is a spin off of the Neo-Cons' mentality involved in his ideology as well. He needs to separate himself from that bunch before I give him my support.
.
I'm as upset with the government's welfare programs as the next person; because they serve the wrong class.
.
Do away with the food stamp program and watch the price of food drop.

So many employees these days are subjected to mandatory drug testing to keep their jobs. They are the tax payers who fund the government assistance programs. It's been suggested that welfare recipients should be subject to the same mandatory random drug testing in order to qualify and continue receiving assistance. Whatcha think?

Most of them already are. That's why they're receiving assistance. What do you know about the Methadone clinics across the U.S.A.
.
How much do you think the government has to pay for those clinics?

and.. where is it that you find this, Phil?...
He is clear that he opposes the Neo-Con all together...
I think your research into this man is less than admirable and reflects the current apathy of the average American... (getting their info from the neocon supported media)...
I say this to you as a friend. and not as a slam.. you are too educated and inquiring to make such a statement...
but.... in the end.. whats the point of this discussion anyway.... I feel that its past the point of no return and the collapse of America is imminent...

I believe the average American thinks we will roll along as before and nothing will happen. Unfortunately, those people deserve what they get.. I have no sympathy for lazy slackers..

If the average American does not care about his country.. then.. they can lose it for all I care... My feelings are the same for Christianity.. If the average American wants Christianity removed from the public square.. then .. so be it... It would be nothing less than what Stalin or Hitler pulled in the not so distant past...
