» Migisi - Hindus, Sikhs, and Human Rights Commission agree

In response to Hindus, Sikhs, and Human Rights Commission agree posted by _Boanerges_:
.
Quote from the article:
.
"...Mr. Phillips, reflecting on media reports of schools scrapping nativity plays and local councils celebrating "Winterval" instead of Christmas, worried the unintended consequences of secularizing the holiday would "fuel community tension."
.
In other words, Christian Brits (70% of Britons - 41 million) would blame Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Brits for the "war on Christmas" (common title used). These minority religious/ethnic groups fear escalation in tensions and becoming targets for violent reprisals. So, to keep peace and protect their own, they all chime 'leave Christmas alone'. Shayk Ibrahim Mogra (Muslim Council of Britain) even goes a step further to placate the Christians, saying "Why can't we have more nativity scenes in Britain?"
.
Yep, the Christians have got those heathens running scared, don't they.

I agree with the article.. Running scared? hardly.. a free secular society means Christianity has the equal right as all others. To remove Christianity out of CHRISTmas is to remove melody from music, words from letters..
and so forth.. happy

In response to melody from music - words from letters posted by _Boanerges_:

.
There is the very unlikely possibility that commercial interests might want to expand the Christmas Holiday to include a broader scope so the gift giving and consequential consumption could increase. A Wintermas could set the stage for a Springmas, a Summermas, and an Autumnmas. Think of the possibilities at making more and more money.

» pink101 - There Is A Distinction

In response to melody from music - words from letters posted by _Boanerges_:
.
There is a distinction between what stated purposes people intend when they organize some activity and what the actual outcomes are.
.
I'm sure that the major interests in society understand the way that works just as I am sure that they do their utmost to make things happen.
.
Joseph Goebels, the Nazi Minister of Propaganda during the reign of German's Third Reich, understood that only too well. He was considered a genius at public opinion and its manipulation.
.
Carl Rove wasn't too shabby at that either.
.

You mean, yet another 'Hallmark moment'? No doubt!

Just for fun: The blue and white 'Christmas' lights are put up for Hanukkah - blue and white are the colors of Israel.
