You love to read. How 'bout a job at a library or book store? Somehow, I don't see you greeting shoppers at Walmart. (wink and

The variable ideas I'm seeing here of...'spirit'...leaves me to ponder: When I stop to smell the roses, am I inhaling 'society', God, rose scent or...smog.
Just because I may have in theory, equal access to epiphanies and serendipities, doesn't mean I'll get 'em. I was born into an existing life cycle where Napoleon had already met HIS untimely Waterloo.
It seems too belated to go back to my overtaken post 709 in 'The Bible' so I'll ponder those issues here too.

Oh yes, Dibert is still popular here. But I'm a Calvin and Hobbs fan myself. Calvin's lavish fantasies get busted by heavy-handed reality all the time - yet his imagination is not diminished. I'm a published cartoonist myself - the one-box variety. One doesn't need to look very far for political and spiritual fodder (the coarser food, the better) for inspiration. It comes from folks like you - et al. So really, a popular cartoon is only a graphic reflection of collective thinking. If that makes sense?

Who knows, you may be inhaling perfume from your neighbor's fabric-softener drier sheets. Or, maybe the rose-scented aphid spray the gardener used. The base question is - do you enjoy the scent of roses (regardless of its source)? Not everyone does.

You might not 'get' the epiphany or happy accident when it happens, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen.

Ponder where we will. Ideas can't be contained under subheadings. But your wily reference has piqued my curiousity to reread and ponder your post 709. Where shall I reply?

Sorry...I didn't intend "wily reference".
It's just that every so often, I recall expressions of mine that could have been better used in a later post or questions that have since lost their context. But then, am I seeking validation my views or questions aren't always entirely off the wall? Or expressing a profound hope that they'll inspire an epiphany here?
"Where shall I reply?"
Your side bar here'd be OK.
Calvin & Hobbs is here too, but not frequently in papers I access. "...graphic reflection..." does makes sense and is for folks like me who don't toe the party line. ![]()
Do I enjoy the smell of roses less if they're grown by criminals? ![]()
"You might not 'get' the epiphany or happy accident when it happens, but that doesn't mean they didn't happen."
But after talking to my financial advisor yesterday, I'm sure I didn't enter into the beginning of the (life) cycle that says there's a risk of a bad year only every 20 years.
