» Migisi - Of Bush's boozing...

So, where'd he learn or need to be tested on...English?
.
From his Yale grade transcripts, it appears he did better in English than he did in Political Science and Economics. Those were his worst subjects. Clearly, they still are.

so how's Bush's doctor goin'?
.
I know your puter is vid-challenged. I wish you could view these. This BBC clip shows Bush pouring himself a beer (it overflowed onto the table). He's drinking with foreign leaders (Germany's Angela Merkel, Tony Blair, and two others) at the last G8 Summit in 2007. The next morning, he 'missed' an important meeting with African leaders, reportedly suffering a 'stomach complaint'. Um, a hang-over?

Drunk at a wedding in 1992 - 16 years ago, when he was 42 years old. He alleges that he quit drinking when he was 40. Actually, he's kinda quick-witted here, and spoke without stammering! Maybe he ~should~ drink?

In response to Of Bush's boozing... posted by Migisi:I let the video run once very disjointed...twice...by the 4th shot I saw him spill his beer. What's his status if no-one could do it for the klutz? The 2nd site no luck incl no audio at all.![]()
As I indicated, maybe Bush's (drunken?) doctors...acting on your behalf ie taxpayers' also see no problems. If he was at least drinking good Aussie wine...well good taste can overlook some eccentricities, eh?

I watched those videos.
.
As much as I dislike the bum, I have a hard time believing that they aren't doctored to make it look the way it looks.
.
They aren't real, are they?

If the video's fake...as Pink suggests...it'd take all the fun out of it.
Then, there'd need to be some other excuse found for Brand Bush...and no-one's blaming those who voted him in, right? ![]()
I'm trying to make sense of your Presidential campaign and what if it was our system. We're in the throes of appointing our next (and possibly last according to the republic watchers) Governor-General (G-G). These exposes of Dubya remind me of our former G-G Sir John Kerr and his very public no-mistakes-about-it drunken behaviour and other behaviour when dismissing the Whitlam government that lifetime ago.
But then, to 'miss' important meetings the next day? Who did he think he was fooling?
What's the best excuse offered for his missed meetings. I mean, it's all about public perceptions as well as substance, isn't it? A generally unfit, unreliable but sober President is not a good look either...but hey, what would I know about what you guys tolerate. ![]()
"Good for the arteries, don'tcha know. (wink)"
I read the research...two beers or red wine or...is better than one. Accredited longitudinal research seems to me. ABC
Spilling his beer? Maybe he has amblyopia like me. That condition includes problems with depth perception ie the glass is closer than it really is. Sorry - tis the 3C within. OK...he's drunk!

Kinda like the passenger side mirror on my van, the disclaimer reads "Objects are closer than they appear"?
I may bump into say the left door jam...skid my foot where a step oughta be...or an uneven section of path is. Or write where I'm cramming everything into the end of line. Mostly benign stuff...nothing like bush is doing. But then, apart from Big Brother, Nobody else seems to be watching when I have the very rare beer. I can count the beers I've had in the last 6 months...on one hand. SNIFF!

» redback - Australia Day
In response to Of Bush's boozing... posted by redback:
Another excuse for a Bush booze-up BUT that's OK!
I'm guessing the 14 January has no importance to you guys...the day the British on winning the war conceded the USA was more trouble than it's worth so ratified the Treaty. ![]()
Today, in history, 24 January 1788, the First Fleet is getting ready to sail from Botany Bay to Sydney Cove...to settle Australia...aka to invade Aboriginal Australia. Who should sail into Botany Bay but two French frigates...commanded by a chap we named La Perouse after.
Had the French decided to settle any part of Australia, it may well have become a French colony...an isolated place to replace Mururoa Atoll ie to test bombs. Come to think of it, the British had fun at our expense, at Maralinga.
A seque to 26 January...Australia Day. Because it falls on a Saturday, we've got a public holiday on Monday...another long weekend.
Health permitting...I'm off to Sydney Harbour to watch the Tall Ships, the ferry races etc etc.
PS: What happens if July 4 happens on a weekend?

» redback - ageing brain
In response to Australia Day posted by redback:I attended the seminar on the ageing brain which opened shortly after the historic apology to the Aboriginal peoples by the Prime Minister.
Too much info, too little handouts. Here's some snippets which hopefully provides news:
There is no value in genetic testing for Alzheimers Disease (AD). A family history of AD only minimally increases the risk. Only 50-70% of people with forms of dementia have AD. The single-gene familial AD accounts for only 1% of AD...and this is the Alzheimers with early onset 40s . What causes the other 99% is likelt to be a combination of factors.
A molecule is now identified that stimulates neurogenesis so it opens several research options. The brain can repair, can regenerate cells. (I'm told I have 100 billion nerve cells) Research is looking at transplanting stem cells from the nose (olfactory) to the brain. This holds out hope for Parkinson's where around 80% of the specific brain cells (ie fully linked to Parkinson's) are lost before symtoms appear. Deep brain stimulation (electrodes in brain) is promising.
Research shows males have more problems with forgetfulness than females. Don't blame us if we don't remember to do things.
