» Migisi - Making their case

.
In Brian's 'blog' article, he writes: "A Nebraska state senator is showing Americans how they can channel their anger and frustration with God."
.
But in the link Brian posted:
http://www.christianpost.com/article/200...
.
(quote) "...the Omaha senator says he isn't suing God because he has any kind of personal objections against Him.
.
"Chambers told a local Fox affiliate that his lawsuit is in response to bills brought forth by other state senators to try and stop frivolous lawsuits from being filed." (end)
.
It's just a political stunt. The remainder of Brian's article needlessly slams all Democrats. Sigh.
.
It's not the first or only law suite filed against God.
.

Convict sues God for broken contract
(quote) "A man serving a 20-year sentence for murder has been rebuffed so far in his effort to sue God for breach of contract by failing to protect him from evil and turning him over to Satan who encouraged him to kill.Pavel Mircea, 40, filed his lawsuit in the western Romanian town of Timisoara, charging God with failure to fulfill an agreement Micera alleged was made at his baptism.
.
"He was supposed to protect me from all evils and instead he gave me to Satan who encouraged me to kill," he charged.
.
"In the lawsuit, Mircea listed "God, resident in heaven, represented in Romania by the Orthodox church" as the defendant, according to the Romanian daily Evenimentul Zilei.
.
"God's alleged dereliction, according to Mircea including fraud, breach of trust, abuse of a position of authority and misappropriation of goods - all crimes, the plaintiff noted, under the Romanian criminal code.
.
"Micera said that God had accepted his prayers and sacrificial offerings without providing any services in return.
.
"Thus far, Micera is not getting an answer to his prayer to the court for relief, either.
.
"The Timisoara public prosecutor rejected the case, saying God is not a person in the eyes of the law and does not have a legal address where he could be served with court papers.
.
"Micera may get off lucky if his case ends there. As WND reported, Italian atheist *Luigi Cascioli was ordered to pay a $1,900 judgment after a court ruled he had filed a fraudulent suit against an Italian priest for saying Jesus Christ existed.
.
"Cascioli contended the cleric violated a law that forbids deceiving the public. The atheist said the priest, who had publicly criticized him for casting doubt on the truth of the gospels, had no evidence Jesus ever existed. Specifically, he claimed two Italian laws had been broken: the "abuse of popular belief' - which amounts to intentionally deceiving someone - and "impersonation" - meaning one gains by giving a false name to someone." (end)
.

I read the article, but thanks for posting. It IS a political stunt. And, in my opinion, a stupid one.

As for my jab at Democrats, I couldn't resist. happy

My "slam" (as Migisi puts it) of Democrats was tongue-in-cheek and not intended to be taken as seriously as she takes it. Nevertheless, consider this....

According to The Barna Group, there are about 5 million American adults who claim to be atheists. If you throw in the agnostics and those who are ardent secularists, you reach a number of roughly 20 million Americans. This is according to the Barna Group.

If you were to ask those 20 million American atheists, agnostics, and secularists whether they lean toward the Republican or Democratic party, what do YOU think they'd say?

From your blog article, your own words:
I realize my cheap shot against the Democrats will not sit well with some of my readers, but this strikes me as type-casting in the extreme.
.
Um, you admitted your 'cheap shot', and yes, your 'type-casting' was in the extreme.
.
But, I didn't take your right-wing Christian conservative rhetoric seriously.

The fact that you are closed to arguments, ideas, and perspectives which differ from your present positions is very clear.
