» pink101 - A Goodly Group

.
We have a goodly group of participants here most of whom can add some input to a list of family values.
.
And, almost everyone can have something to say about what each value means to them.

» pink101 - Foundations

.
It seems to me that Family Values would combine to make up the foundation upon which our culture has adopted the idea of family as an institution.

» pink101 - Constraints

.
We live under constraints one of which has to do with the problems involved in the questions of sectarian and secular confusions that are so obvious in our social intercourse.
.
How do you line up in those questions? Do you know? Is God in control of your personal situation? Is the family the basic building block of society? Should it be seen as such? From where does the family find the values upon which it is founded?
.
There are numerous questions to be asked. It is especially true during these times in which our current government's administration is attempting to build a democratic society in the Middle East.

I think the approach 'treat others as you wish to be treated' is valuable in a family setting.
.
From where does the family find the values upon which it is founded?
.
I think we take bits and pieces from a lot of places and people, and incorporate whatever fits into our idea of family.

.
This idea of family values pervades our present day society.
.
Retrograde conservatism wants us to believe that it is out to protect our family values.
.
What? With poverty, economic recession, and war?
.
I wonder what they think family values must be.

Given the high divorce rate among Christians, it doesn't appear to me that they value the family much at all.

In response to A Goodly Group posted by Migisi:
.
How curious that in such a valuable area of concern that not one--of the conservative spokespersons who participate here--has contributed a single thought to this thread.
.
Is the idea of family values at the foundation of why family is important to society? What is the purpose of the family that any values can be described as Family Values?

So, the main question regarding family values is,
.
What is the family's purpose in society?
