In response to Fully Grown posted by Brother_Jones:
.
My current interests, goals, objectives, and plans are about developing my knowledge and understanding of the concepts of human society itself--you have undoubtedly noticed. What it is, how it works, what affects it, all sorts of curiosity regarding the various theories involved.
.
To discuss, argue, or otherwise fuss about Migisi's, Brian's, Wendell's, Jeff's, mine, your's or anyone else's position on the metaphysical seems to be a tangent that goes off on some retrograde into the ancient past.
.
That doesn't mean that I won't attune myself to what you have to say; but, I don't want to get bogged down in non-productive talk.
.
So, bring some new understandings and knowledge to your posts.
.
Your arguments seem to be stuck in some ancient tradition of reality that has long since worn itself out. I know that it seems real to you as you circulate in a closed system populated with like minded religionists. But, as far as I'm concerned, such circles belong to an ever shrinking class of conservatives holding on to a dead past. Does that mean that you have nothing worthwhile to add to the greater reality? I don't know? Do you? Can you couch your points in current reality and its perspectives?
.
Why don't you try to reach out a little? Maybe you can discover something beyond the limits you have allowed to be placed on your thinking.

Why do this here at this faith site? You have nothing to add that would encourage a person in the area of faith. You remind me of any number of philosophy professors who teach at universities who simply chase their own circle of reasoning everyday figuring that someone somewhere is going to announce the secret of life in the newspapers. You don't have any credentials or much if any references. But you aren't here to learn anyway, you just want to protest religion and authority.

To discuss, argue, or otherwise fuss about Migisi's, Brian's, Wendell's, Jeff's, mine, your's or anyone else's position on the metaphysical seems to be a tangent that goes off on some retrograde into the ancient past.

I guess any word to you is as good as another for Jesus Christ. Metaphysical works. Some folks saw that and said to themselves, 'Yea, that Pinky. Right on. That Pinky knows how to put that Jesus stuff into the deep freeze. Right on, Pink.'

That doesn't mean that I won't attune myself to what you have to say; but, I don't want to get bogged down in non-productive talk.

Right. The fact that you have a one track mind nevers seems to occur to you. Opposing Christianity takes about a full day out of your schedule, doesn't it?

So, bring some new understandings and knowledge to your posts

Have you ever even read any of Isaac Asimov's writings or paid any attention to Carl Sagan's works? What is wrong with you that you have to attack any and all Christians as being beneath your intellect and interest level?

Your arguments seem to be stuck in some ancient tradition of reality that has long since worn itself out.

You are wearing out your welcome at a religious site, Pinky. Just because you have seemingly no need of God or a spiritual life, does not follow that you should spend your days hammering the rest of us that come to this site to be encouraged by believers.

Why don't you try to reach out a little? Maybe you can discover something beyond the limits you have allowed to be placed on your thinking.

I am going to greatly reduce my posting here. Maybe that will help you in some way.

i am just an oldtimer for the Lord.

Let's see. You're in your aggressive state. Now you are going to show me the fruits of my behavior. You're going to pick up all your marbles and you're going home?

And, I come here for feedback?

Puts me out in the cold now, doesn't it? Do you think it serves me right?

We're all in the same boat, Brother Jones.

How did you come up with the name, One?
.
It's a common reference in most monotheistic belief systems. In your Bible:
.
Matthew 19:17 - "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good.
.
Matthew 23:22 - And he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.
.
Matthew 26:64 - "... In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One..."
.
Luke 1:49 - "for the Mighty One has done great things for me- holy is his name."
.
John 15:21 - "They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me."
.

"Do you really have to fret about enlightenment? No matter what road I travel, I'm going home."

You don't strike me as a lazy person. But your answer is sorta lame. You ingnored my first question about interaction, which based on the placement in the post, would seem to carry more importance.

Is there some reason, migisi, that you could give that you aren't considering the religions that encompass multiple gods?

.
Can you give us an idea of what it would mean to have different gods? And, if some religion would have multiple gods, what would they be like? Would it be like having a special god for water, for long life, of the harvest, or something other like gods that can be called upon for the same things?
.
Doesn't the idea of a supreme being such as a god mean that one god has achieved the level of omnipotence and so has done away with all its competition?
.
How could there be more that one? Would there be a species of gods? Like would there be a planet where the highest life form would be gods? So, does that describe a god as a being with supernatural powers--one that performs things that can only--otherwise--come about by magic?
.

Well, it might make for an interesting thread, but I don't have any experience worshiping different gods or spirits. I think in the Native American beliefs you have traces of monotheism or the beginnings of the idea with the Great Spirit. Obviously, the ancient Greeks and Romans believed in plural gods. As well as the Hindu Religion.

The Greeks, I think, knew their gods were their own creations. They had a god for each of their drives and habits. In a way of considering, we have the same situation today--only we don't give our gods personalized identities. Women that worship fashion and men that worship NASCAR are just behaving normally in our society. But, you know some of those women and you might even be one of thos men.

I may not be able to explain it perfectly, but I believe I understand it that God is three persons. Yet one God.
