You jump to conclusions in cases where your foundation is faulty and or incomplete. You assume you know what constitutes another person's thinking and you go on from there. That also defines your way of looking at reality.
Maybe so, I have shared some very strong opinions in an age and place that strong opinions are rarely shared with those who oppose the message of the bible.
If you ask me, your faith seems to be founded on what you were taught as a child. You're stuck. If you try to get unstuck, you will be denying your upbringing and that is unthinkable for you.
That's right. I am still stuck on Jesus after all these years. I have no plans to abandon Him.
the oldtimer.

"But, there is a clearing up ahead"
Tis hard to compose a very concise view but...above IS a good addition. ![]()
Today I'm thinking maybe both science and faith can fall short. Maybe I'm tending towards being a pragmatic, libertarial, humanist dabbling in spirituality for my own mental health's sake.
Which is MOST likely to work? The science of (marketing) saturation-advertising or the faith in faith?
Apparently Australia is spiralling downhill towards...the USA.
The Anglican Archbishop's rebuke of OZ: "...gambling without end, abortion without limit, alcohol without discipline, sex without love, work without shared time off, families without children, children without parenting, suburbs without community, divorce without accountability, men without women, women without men, and speech without constraint." (Not much of the above happens in my house but my liberties come at a price if others have to have theirs)
We may be free but we aint good...to paraphrase.
We'll be partially rescued when the Pope visits mid-2008. Buoyed by an expected rise in faith that visit will generate, Anglicans plan to ride on the back of its success and...place a Bible in EVERY Australian household in 2009.

Will the Anglicans be giving away free Bibles?

A new Bible for you - good, since your's (like your street guide) is outdated. Tee hee.

Pope: Other denominations not true churches
Benedict issues statement asserting that Jesus established 'only one church'
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19692094/
(quote) "LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches." ...(end)
.
His edict includes the Anglicans.

I'm a bit fond of the local Anglicans. Jim is one who I occasionally share a coffee with...and who I nickname "Phil" for reasons he's unclear about
is yet to digest a download of our current Bible discussions to take to his far more sedate Bible group.
Yep...it'll be a free Bible. I asked him to tell the convenor to put my name on the list where unsolicited mail is unwelcome. I'll tell him about the Pope's "blessings" on the lesser churches. But Jim believes he's a Catholic Anglican.

"What kind of feedback do you expect you will get? Don't you think they will merely ignore it?"
Well, he's sometimes stuck between my post-suite101 input and his frustration at not getting progress within his own group...so who knows. He's in his early 70s, a Mason, and sings for his church without really accepting all their dogma. He uses his professional artistic skills to Bible read as well so the sign-off from the reading is his own.
He did once tell them that God changes his mind. He does make broad-based claims about many things that I check out.
