How can a Bible-believing Christian talk about the supernatural without manipulating or scaring people? Pink had this to say in a different thread: Your statement [an affirmation of the supernatural] gives voice to those people who take those beliefs to their extreme. You cringe when people take the idea of demons to the extreme? How does that not help extremists articulate their belief that mental illness is not a nurturing of some demon in a person's life? Or do you actually believe in things that go bump in the night? Are you children afraid of the dark? My quick answer: I don't talk about Satan and demons with my children. So their fears about things that go bump in the night are just the normal type childhood fears. As for adults, you have to take it case-by-case. Some can handle the subject. Some not so well. And by handle, I mean speaking about and preaching it -- as well as receiving it. Let me mull it over some more. » pink101 - How to talk about it?
