I'm not a big fan of Peterson's Message Bible because folks can sometimes get confused by the paraphrase approach to scripture. Almost any translation is helpful as long as a person can read and understand. I've always enjoyed the Good News for Modern Man. I think it was written on an eigth grade level. I try to study from the American Standard Version.
