In response to Examples posted by Migisi:

It is very much related to the discussion, though I'm not sure what more can be said on the subject than what has already been said. But for others who may not have seen it or participated in it, by all means, let's reopen it.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Other Versions

In response to Other Versions posted by Migisi:

That's DEFINITELY for another thread. happy

My short/quick answer is that reading passages from several of the English language versions can help broaden and deepen one's understanding of the original meaning of the passages in question. This is a case in point, as the other English languages I cited seemed to focus and further define what was meant by "evil."

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Is God Responsible for Satan?

According to the Bible, God created Lucifer and all the angels (including Michael, Gabriel, etc.). Well, a third of the angels rebelled - led by Lucifer - and were cast out of heaven. Lucifer became Satan and his angels became "demons" or "devils" (plural). They retained their powers.

Migisi (in a separate thread) argues that this means God is responsible for Satan and all his doing...

Why [did God let the fallen angels retain their powers]? Surely God knew beforehand that they'd misuse them. Why didn't God revoke those supernatural powers to punish their rebellion? He had that power, didn't he? From Bible accounts, God didn't seem to have any problem punishing his human enemies. By God allowing retention of their supernatural powers, he basically gave them his permission to use them. And that, to me, means God is ultimately responsible for what Lucifer and his minions do.

What do you think?

Or, were the editors of the other versions attempting to avoid the implication of the word 'evil' and its connection to God?

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Restart Button

In response to Is God Responsible for Satan? posted by Migisi:

I used to enjoy playing computer games and video games. I still do, though I have little time to do so. When I would start to lose (really badly), I knew that I had the 'restart button.' I loved that button, since I lost a lot.sad I was never really very good w/ video and computer games.

What this comes down to, I think, is that God chose not to push the 'restart' button. Not fully anyway. Yes, I'm aware He did this to some degree with the Flood, but let's not go there just yet. God has re-strategized and changed His approach at times, but He seems to have (in all cases) kept the timeline (the "game" if you will) going forward. There's been no total and complete re-start. Not that we know of anyway.

God could've vaporized the angels when they rebelled - and started all over. A restart. He could've done the same with Adam and Eve or with the human race in general. But, for His reasons, He has kept things going.

Before I continue...does what I've said so far make sense?

1 Corinthians 1:17
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Were the Translators Dishonest

In response to Other Versions posted by Migisi:

Migisi, you're asking if the translators were dishonest. It's clear that you suspect they were. I asked if you have any evidence to that effect. I don't believe they were. Unlike you, I am willing to give the Bible translators the benefit of any doubt - particularly when I have no evidence that they were being deceitful.
