» pink101 - What It Means

.
We've had this lesson before.
.
Here it is again.
.
Question What does the suffix ous mean?
.
Answer The suffix "ous" is an English suffix. The word formed by an addition of this type of suffix creates an adjective that describes the quality of the object it is derived from. For example "spacious area," means "an area full of space." In other words, the presence of an adjective suffix "ous" means full of, having the qualities like, abounding in etc.
.
Some of the words with the suffix "ous" are poisonous, bulbous, joyous, gracious, envious, riotous etc. The suffix is used in chemistry. The suffix "ous" in chemistry, represents that the element indicated by the name bearing it, has a valency which is lower than the one denoted by the suffix ending in "ic." For example, nitrous, sulphurous, ferrous etc as against nitric, sulphuric, ferric etc.
.
I lifted that description from this site:

.
To be Rigthous means to be full of rights.
.
Americans are a Rigtheous people.

Sorry, Phil.. Cannot find any explanation that fits your definition. From your example - the Chinese people would be unrighteous.... because they have no rights...

Makes no sense because you are placing the definition of what a government allows its citizens as pertaining to law. By default, that makes government the giver of rights and that is in direct opposition to our Constitution....

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
