Subject to unknowingly plagiarising, I claim I've coined the above phrase prompted simply by discussions within suite101 that dance around 3C. Be sure to cite your source if you want to quote it. happy

Absolutist thinking in America's military? Replacing what? My recollection is you were no General so needed to follow whatever orders you were given. happy

You are a prolific reader of non-fiction. I'm not going to catch up in this lifetime. happy But there is a book now out I may purchase, called 'Advance Australia...Where' by Hugh Mackay. He posits OZ is in the Dreamy Period.

"15 years ago, when we were more engaged with political and social issues, we were better at keeping such (racist etc etc) tendencies on the leash. In the Dreamy Period, we let them loose as a way of keeping our own fears and insecurities at bay." Disengaging is not the same as apathy.
