I am not scolding anyone..
But, it is a simple fact that the verse she quoted refers to marriage....

This is the Christian section of Suite101. Implying what other cultures, cults, or isms claim is of no importance here.....

You sound as if no Christians understand paganism.. We do.. and we reject it.. That is why we are Christians!...

a useless argument, Phil.....
We are discussing the quote that Mig placed.. It refers to marriage, and nothing more....

You can squib and rant all you want - but really - isn't that quite useless....

But, you could show us why the verse Mig placed does not refer to marriage! Go ahead, give that a try.....

Nothin' to prove. The verse refers to a unity between a man and a woman.
.
I think Migisi probably knows more about marriage in the tip of the little finger on her left hand than you could possibly know.
.
No insult intended; but, marriage is pretty much out of your league.
.
Wouldn't you say?

as I've already said.. its a useless argument.. I mean, if want to press it further, thats up to you... but, by your very implication, you are trying to prove something.. what that is, who knows.. but, it seems you are saying that in order to understand the verse (or all scriptures) that relate to marriage, one must be married....

Phil.. that would exclude all people who are now arranging to be married.. (besides the 65% of married couples who have since divorced)...

So, according to your silly argument, that pretty much cancels out the majority of all people... gimmie a break dude...

Now then, back to a normal conversation.. The verse Mig placed above refers to marriage.. If you want to dispute that, fine, by all means.. go ahead...

Back to your claim that two people being married has created a new being is not only absurd - but can easily be dismissed as ridiculous...

Sorry.. but why persist in such futility....

"...This is the Christian section of Suite101..."

A friendly reminder. happy I think I know what you mean BUT this is (unless I'm wrong) the Protestant page of the Mind & Soul Section of suite101's many sections. Tis the benevolence of Brian...the BB if you will...that adds flavour right here. For me at least, what may or may not exist in other cultures, religions, faiths etc adds contrasts, comparisons and context...the 3C principle. happy

Similarly, the he said/she said versions of Christianity posted here has much 3C about it...for me at least happy

BTW: I reckon I understood re 'marriage' but then the idea of there can only be one boss (by whatever term and conditions) kinda dilutes the one-ness of it. And the poetic idea of a soul-mate out there for all of us leads to unrealistic expectations. Why, pink suggested in another topic there are American women with their eyes on me. happy

I hear ya.. but.. been there, done that..
my mind is closed to that from here on out.........
don't misunderstand me when I say that.. but, its what you (meaning anyone) want me to say anyway.. and besides, who really cares....

but.. more to the point.. if you are here to learn, then please, learn.. but, if you are here to bash Christianity, I say, why waste your time on such futility.. Its useless and such a waste of time.. hence, this is the Christianity section..

btw... you.. your = means anyone.. not you, Jeff, personally...

so.. to recap.. the verse Mig offered relates to marriage, and nothing more. To make a claim that 2 married people have created a new being, might be something to some, but.. its actually useless and meaningless to me, personally.....

besides.. what does a married person know about about being single... I doubt nothing.. And... to make such a silly argument of "what do you know about marriage" is about as a foolish argument one could come across. If someone decides to fall into such a trap of an argument.. so be it.. but.. as for me, I'm not wasting my time... its futile.....

:)

"Liberals love to boast that they are not 'religious,' which is what one would expect to hear from the state-sanctioned religion. Of course liberalism is a religion. It has its own cosmology, its own miracles, its own beliefs in the supernatural, its own churches, its own high priests, its own saints, its own total worldview, and its own explanation of the existence of the universe. In other words, liberalism contains all the attributes of what is generally known as 'religion.'" -From Godless
