Heh heh heh

What can I say?
.
I asked a few questions. I don't remember claiming anything one way or the other. Perhaps you misunderstood me?
.
I'm sorry if you misread what I wrote.
.
As far as scripture is concerned, the link I gave you ( http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02055a.h... ) if filled with several scripture references. It is a 5,069 word explanation of the Doctrine of Atonement. Quite educational if you ask me.
.
I'm not making any claims on my own about this doctrine; but, I do have thoughts about it.

I did not misread.. Even the link you provided states the very same thing that I have stated:

...quoting the article...

"It was by this inward sacrifice of obedience unto death, by this perfect love with which He laid down his life for His friends, that Christ paid the debt to justice, and taught us by His example, and drew all things to Himself; it was by this that He wrought our Atonement and Reconciliation with God, "making peace through the blood of His Cross"."

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Atonement

Pink, I respect your right to explore the doctrine of atonement to your satisfaction. You do seem to be leaning in the direction of atonement having something to do with achieving oneness (in essence) with God. This is not consistent with the historical understanding of the doctrine.

The historic Jewish and Christian understanding of "atonement" (the word goes back to the mosaic law) is a means of achieving reconciliation with God. Not in some kind of metaphysical or literal "oneness" with God, since humanity NEVER had that. But rather in a harmonious sense - a fellowship sense.

If interested, here's something on the subject from an online evangelical Bible dictionary...

In response to Biblical References posted by _Boanerges_:
.
To me, "at one ment" meants the state of being at one with another. It seems, it needs further clarification; however. To be in agreement is not, necessarily to be at one with another. More specifically, "at one ment" gives the connotation that separate parties are completely at one each with the other--as though they were one being.
.
I think when two beings/persons are in a state of being at one, that they can and often do deliver a spirit--that re-presents their relationship to the outside world--so that it can be experienced by others. My wife an I are often at one with each other and when we are, there is a spirit that others can sense.
.
But that is only what I think. Others might not agree with me at all.

So, then, you have the Trinity.

But, if my wife and I are at one with each other so much so that the spirit of our relationship is made apparent, does that mean that she and I and our spirit are one and the same being?
