The Goddess mother was the foundation of all pagan cultures.... including - all sexual promiscuity....

I wonder if the Caesars become such because of the strong Patriarchal foundations...

The masculine God the Father of the OT is not popular with feminists.
.
We're talking about a Christian creed here. I have no argument that its core belief is in a masculine God. I don't believe it, but we're not talking about my beliefs.

Ah, but, we're seeing how the beliefs involved in main stream "Christianity" impact on those who subscribe to its tenets.
.
Are we not?

It's coming out in the wash.
.
And, it isn't all about being nice to others.
.
Notice the way Leahy expresses the same characteristics but in a more volatile way?

How does 'God the Father' impact Christianity, as you see it? Is it really a Christian thing? Male superiority and authority is the tenet of nonChristian religions too.

I'm not exactly sure; so, you cannot hold me to my opinions here.
.
God the Father seems to over ride the idea of motherhood and it places procreation squarely in the body of the male. Women are to be subservient. The male represents God in all human relationships and the female represents humanity.
.
Something like that? Off the top of my head anyway.

I think the male authority figure concept simply reflects the patriarchal society that Christianity sprouted from. But we know that the hand that rocks the cradle, controls the world. happy

» Feature Writer Brian Tubbs - Revelation

The way I see it is that Jehovah God, even though He is Spirit, chose to reveal Himself to mankind in a masculine manner. Feminists and those sympathetic to them will say this is a reflection of Jewish or Christian chauvinism. I say it's the way that God chose to reveal Himself. We didn't create God. God created us. We didn't make up God or His characteristics. He revealed Himself to us. The way it is - is the way it is.

A time came in my life when I sfelt behind my ears and it seemed they were drying off.

.
It looks as though women hold some great knowledge that has been kept hidden from humanity--even from their own being.
.
Has everyone here read Lysistrata? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysistrata
.
The flip side of that 'great knowledge' seems to be related with an idea that powerful men are afraid that knowledge might somehow escape and come to be common knowledge. Thus, they would lose their position of authority.
.
Maybe THIS is why theology is and has been dominated by men?
.
The only think I can PROVE about the idea is that it exists and that I THINK it is a worthy subject for discussion.
